Contract Geologist

Job Summary

We’re seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Contract Geologist

to join our client’s team in their

Calgary office

. The contract is for

6 months

, with the

possibility of extension

based on project needs and performance. The successful candidate will provide

geological execution support

for the annual

Integrated Winter Drilling Program

(171 wells planned) and will be responsible for

monitoring, analyzing, and interpreting geological data

during drilling operations to ensure the successful completion of wells. This position requires close collaboration with drilling teams, hands-on analysis of rock samples, and real-time geological evaluation to guide operational decisions.

Responsibilities:

- Monitor and evaluate geological data during drilling operations.

- Analyze rock cuttings, core samples, and mud logs to determine lithology and stratigraphy.

- Provide real-time geological interpretations and recommendations to the drilling team.

- Ensure accurate and timely reporting of geological data and findings.

- Collaborate with drilling engineers and other team members to optimize drilling performance.

- Maintain detailed records of geological data and wellsite activities.

- Ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations during drilling operations.

- Participate in pre-drill planning and post-drill analysis meetings.

- Stay updated with advancements in geological techniques and technologies.

- Provide training and support to junior geologists and other team members.

Requirements

:

- Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Earth Sciences, or a related field.

- At least 8-10 years of experience in wellsite geology or a related field.

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

- Proficiency in geological software and tools.

- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

- Knowledge of drilling operations and wellsite safety practices.

- Ability to work in remote locations and adapt to challenging environments.

- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.

Additional Information:

- This position is based

onsite at Brookfield Place in Calgary

, working

Monday to Friday, 8 hours per day

. The role may occasionally require

on-call support

during active drilling operations.

No travel

is expected as part of this position.
