About This Job

The Unconventional Completions Engineer is responsible for the planning, design, execution support, and optimization of completions programs for unconventional wells. This role provides technical leadership to ensure wells are delivered safely, cost-effectively, and in full compliance with regulatory, environmental, and operational standards, while achieving geological and reservoir objectives. The engineer will work closely with drilling, subsurface, operations, and external partners to support multi‑well development programs and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

- Prepare detailed unconventional completions designs and coordinate all phases of well planning and execution.

- Develop, review, and approve comprehensive completions programs optimized for cost, performance, and operational risk.

- Ensure geological and reservoir objectives are achieved while maintaining the highest standards of engineering integrity and safety.

- Perform modeling and technical analysis to support execution, including hydraulics, torque and drag, and wellbore equipment performance.

- Provide real-time surveillance, troubleshooting, and engineering assessments during completions execution.

- Communicate risks, deviations, and optimization opportunities to operations leadership in a timely and professional manner.

- Collaborate effectively with field-based Operations Supervisors and Remote Operations Centers to ensure successful program execution.

- Lead or support investigations into non-productive time (NPT), equipment failures, and operational incidents.

- Prepare detailed cost estimates and conduct economic evaluations to support technical and commercial decision-making.

- Steward well costs throughout the lifecycle, including post-job cost reconciliation and reporting.

- Select, evaluate, and qualify completions materials, tools, and service providers.

- Prepare and evaluate technical bid packages; support tendering, procurement, and contractor performance management.

- Monitor KPIs and provide feedback to contractors and service providers.

- Ensure full compliance with government regulations, approvals, and permitting requirements.

- Collaborate with subsurface, drilling, reservoir, and production teams to ensure programs are built on the best available data.

- Support development projects, equipment testing, and the implementation of new technologies and procedures.

- Facilitate pre-job planning meetings and post-job after-action reviews; capture lessons learned and best practices.

- Provide technical mentoring and guidance to less experienced engineers as required.

- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline.

- Minimum 10+ years of closely related professional experience.

- Demonstrated expertise in unconventional completions design, equipment, and field operations.

- Strong understanding of industry standards, specifications, and best practices.

- Proven ability to manage complex workloads, aggressive deadlines, and shifting priorities.

- Proficient in Microsoft Office and standard engineering software tools.

- Fluent in English (written and spoken) with strong technical and business communication skills.

- High level of personal and professional integrity with a strong safety-focused mindset.

- Must meet conditional job offer requirements including background check, drug test, and MVR check.
