Job Summary:
The lead electrician acts as a lead over a small group of electricians and other assigned staff. The lead electrician can install and connect wiring, cables, conduit, and electrical equipment in new and existing facilities following diagrams, schematics, or blueprints and instruct others to do so. The lead electrician does perform the more complex work related to the installation, maintenance or repair of electrical equipment and systems.
1. Leadership and Instruction - As directed by the project manager, prioritize project tasks and utilize assigned staff, materials, and resources for the successful completion of assigned projects. Lead and instruct the job crew, in the layout, and installation of electrical systems, light fixtures, associated equipment and materials.
2. Trade Performance - Install and connect wiring, cables, conduit, and electrical equipment in new and existing facilities following project manager instructions, diagrams, schematics, or blueprints.
3. Communication - Notify the Project Manager of changes in manpower requirements. Maintain a list of required materials and notify the Project Manager or Purchasing Manager of material needs with plenty of lead time. Report any deviation to the Project Manager before work is performed. Coordinate with representatives from the customer/general contractor and other trades regarding schedule, duration, and order of tasks.
4. Work Ethic - Be punctual and responsible for your time and enforce adherence to company policies regarding start times, end times and breaks.
5. Safety - Maintain a clean and safe work environment by adhering to all company guidelines and OSHA safety requirements.
