The Commercial & Technical Sales Manager is responsible for working with accounts and generating revenue by providing commercial & technical support to customers and internally across all Vallourec OCTG products and services, including pipe and premium connections.
Your Role at a Glance
Commercial & Technical Sales Manager –OCTG will meet and interact with all key focal points including end users/distributors to:
- Provide Primary Liaison with Distribution and End Users for OCTG Finished Goods
- Identify and develop Commercial Opportunities
- Identify and execute Commercial Sales Strategies
- Connect Customers with relevant Technical Sales Support Team Members globally
- Understand, & evaluate Import Statistics
- Support & execute the technical aspects of the sales strategy
- Identify market needs that will inspire the development of new solutions aimed at further differentiating our offer, and formalize them into new products specifications/ offers
- Drive R&D and Vallourec Global solutions to work on new products development
- Define, recommend and execute the product and service strategy for assigned products
- Execute the product strategy defined by other Product Leaders
- Execute the service strategy defined by Vallourec Global Solutions teams
Essential Duties And Responsibilities Include The Following
- Manage current OCTG Distribution relationships, conducting regular meetings regarding forecast and bookings
- Liaise with Technical Sales Support and Internal Vallourec Canada team to prepare Commercial offers
- Manage CORUM opportunities entry
- Provide Market Intelligence and Sales Forecast supporting Budgeting and forecast realization
- Support Internal Vallourec Staff to enter & interpret Fast Track quotation and Mill response
- Perform Commercial Offer follow up and report outcomes
- Organize presentations, lunch & learns for customers
- Support inside sales team on ensuring orders comply technically with customer requirements
- Respond to technical questions from customers, vendors, sub-contractors, and salespeople
- Resolve technical issues arising during the sales engagement and help customers to define specifications and requirements
- Respond to manufactured product Non-Compliance Reports (NCR’s) and waiver requests as needed
- Lead multi competency (Sales, QA/QC, 3rd party laboratories) team efforts to resolve customer claims
- Aid in the coordination for international business as required
- Provide technical documents to customers, e.g. data sheets, product specifications and comparisons of performance parameters for OCTG and related products and services
- Identification of market needs for new solutions development:
- Visit customers regularly to identify future needs on products and services
- Interact and call on engineers, e.g. drilling engineers, well design engineers, completion engineers, material specialists of Exploration & Production, Oil & Gas and Engineering companies
- Provide Product Leaders with the market intelligence needed for them to specify the development of new solutions, including by making joint sales calls to customers.
- When acting as product leader, write the specifications of new products, interact with R&D, and define, recommend, and execute the product strategy
- When relevant, participate at Technical Coordination Meetings
- Participate in various presentations and trade show exhibits as presenter or host; contribute to their preparation (presentations, papers)
- Participate in industry work groups such as API, AADE and SPE
- Contribute to the technical content of print or web documents aimed at describing Vallourec’s offer to customers
- Follow all applicable specifications, work instructions and requirements, company policy and procedures and will adhere to all safety rules.
- Responsible for other duties as assigned
What Sets You Apart
We’re looking for individuals who bring the right mix of experience, mindset, and motivation:
- Preference for Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Metallurgy or a related field. Relevant Oil and Gas experience can be considered
- Previous oil and gas industry experience required
- A minimum of 3 years’ documented experience in Sales of OCTG or related products
- Knowledge of MS Office products, i.e. Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Understanding of Petroleum Exploration or Development.
- Must have an understanding of Supply Chain Management.
- Advanced understanding of technical terminology related to company products & services.
- Ability to present products and services to wide range of people with varying levels of technical knowledge.
- Ability to solve problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Ability to organize and prioritize workload and meet deadlines.
- Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with colleagues and clients.
