The Coil Slitter Machine Helper assists the Slitter Operator in the setup, operation, and maintenance of coil slitting equipment. This position supports production by handling materials, monitoring workflow, maintaining quality standards, and ensuring a safe and efficient work environment.
- Assist with setup and changeover of coil slitting machines
- Load and unload steel coils using overhead crane or forklift (as directed)
- Help thread coils through slitting heads and recoiler
- Band, package, and label finished slit coils according to specifications
- Measure and verify material width, thickness, and quality
- Remove scrap and maintain clean work area
- Monitor machine operation and report issues to operator or supervisor
- Follow all safety policies and procedures
- Perform general labor duties as assigned
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, and reaching
- Ability to work in a non-climate-controlled shop environment
- Ability to work around heavy machinery and moving equipment
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Previous manufacturing or industrial experience preferred
- Basic understanding of measuring tools (tape measure, calipers)
- Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team
- Strong attention to detail and safety awareness
- Industrial manufacturing setting
- Shop is not climate controlled (exposed to heat and cold)
- Exposure to loud noise, steel materials, and heavy equipment
