Summary
The Coatings and Concrete Repair Lead Crewman and/or Foreman position leads crews restoring concrete structures, removes corrosion and rust, and applies coating systems on water infrastructure. Utilizes surface preparation equipment, paint sprayers and mortar application techniques. The position also requires a driver's license for at least five years.
Responsibilities
•Weekly planning with Superintendent or PM for project execution
•Leads a crew of technicians in all aspects of surface preparation, hand and power tool cleaning, pressure washing and sandblasting to meet project specification.
•Apply various paints and coatings to substrates including concrete, metal and wood in primarily industrial locations.
•Perform heavy lifting and operate power tools safely and efficiently.
•Follow blueprints and project plans to ensure accuracy in construction.
•Maintain project documentation
•Maintain a clean and safe work environment at all job sites.
Requirements
•Knowledge of various tools, equipment and products used in the painting industry including paints, primers, coatings and thinners
•Ability to maintain and operate all equipment in company inventory
•Competency in basic math skills including geometry
•· Ability to work well with a team, be a team-player and have a positive attitude to contribute to the successful completion of projects
•Communicate effectively, while constantly displaying a service mentality to the company, clients and staff
•Strong time management skills including instilling time management in painting crew
•Ability to read labels, project specifications, MSDS and other relevant information
•Ability to observe, receive and otherwise obtain information from all relevant sources
•Able to work extended hours, weekends and holidays on occasions when required
•Ability to travel throughout the state of North Carolina and the southeast with overnight stays as projects dictate
•Attend training classes as directed
•Must maintain a valid driver’s license, an acceptable driving record, be able to drive stick shift vehicles and other motorized equipment (not applicable to previous hires)
•Must be able to perform physical activities, such as, but not limited to, lifting equipment (up to 50 lbs. unassisted), carry paint, handle equipment, climb ladders, bending, standing, stoop, climbing or walking
•Must be able to safely use manual tools and power equipment common in the construction trades
•Must be able to handle hazardous materials safely and tolerate exposure to electrical hazards
•Skills in steadiness to evenly distribute applied product over all surfaces, allowing for a smooth, uniformed final finish
•Ability to uniformly spray applied product to cover hard to reach spaces that are not accessible via a brush and the ability to spray materials using a plural component pump
•Ability to endure long periods of repetitive movements of the wrists, fingers, hands and arms applying product using brush and/or spray application techniques
•Ability to assemble and adjust pre-manufactured products and follow instructions as set forth by manufacturer’s guidelines
•Exposure to excessive noise, moving machinery, dust, fumes, elevated heights, confined space, gases, chemicals and extreme changes in temperature/humidity
