The CNC Programmer/Operator is responsible to set-up, operate, and maintain machining (lathes, milling machines, plate machine, etc.) equipment used to perform different types of machining operations. Adjust operational settings as required.
· Receives oral and/or written instructions from supervisor or other lead personnel. Works under general supervision to carry out duties. May direct efforts of entry level personnel as required by supervisor.
· Performs operations in a safe and efficient manner and maintain cleanliness of work area and equipment in accordance with standard practice.
· Provides process quality control (visual inspection and/or use of hand-held instruments) to determine tolerances, smoothness of finished materials, etc. to meet customer requirements and communicate results to Supervisor.
· Move materials as needed using cranes, hand trucks, forklifts, etc.
· Performs routine and preventative maintenance on equipment as needed. Assists other personnel with non-routine maintenance.
· Set up, operate, and maintain manual and non-manual machining (5-axis mills, lathes, milling and turning machines, plate machines, etc.) equipment used to perform different types of machining operations. Work according to established parameters and operational guidelines/manuals. Makes CNC fixture construction and modification when needed.
· Adjust operational settings on equipment as needed to ensure finished products are within established standards and tolerances.
· Read and understand blueprints, work instructions and control plans.
· Record information and data from daily operations
· Use tools such as air tools, micrometers, calipers, band saws, etc.
· Perform other tasks as required by Supervisor or other lead personnel.
· Work some daily and/or weekend overtime as required.
· Should be proficient with G-Code, MasterCam and Solidworks.
· Ability to select appropriate manufacturing methods, tooling, fixturing, jaws, collets, feeds, and speeds. The ability to design and build fixtures/tooling is desirable.
· Ability to multi-task, prioritize and work with minimal supervision.
· Ability to communicate effectively within a team environment and to speak with customers effectively as necessary.
· Ability to cross train and effectively perform multiple functions within production manufacturing environment.
· Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
· Must be able to operate various types of equipment such as forklifts, presses, overhead cranes, etc. Basic power tool and shop skills required. Tools used may be manual, electric, pneumatic, hydraulic, etc.
· Must have 2-3 years prior experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
· While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms; and communicate (hearing and speech). The employee is required to sit and stoop, kneel, or crouch. May be required to wear a respirator while performing job duties. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Must be able to maintain a minimum of 10 hours work/day, 4 days/week.
