CNC Programmer- 7 Week Contract

Position Purpose:

Looking for a CNC programmer for an 7 week parental leave contract.

The goal of the Skilled CNC Programmer is to work under the direction of the Supervisor in setting up and programming various machinery to fabricate metallic and non-metallic parts.

Skills and Abilities

· Interpret technical drawings, manuals and specifications to determine dimensions and tolerances.

· Create CNC programs using Mastercam, set-up CNC machines and produce parts.

· Create set-up instructions for operators and set-up technicians / operators.

· Familiar with HAAS and Fanuc Control CNC machines, capable of working on Multi-axis machine set-up (Mazak, Kitamura & HAAS)

· Capable of editing and modifying programs manually on CNC machines to accommodate Aluminum extrusion variances

· Capable of working on Large CNC machine (gantry style) and heavy Aluminum products.

· Capable of producing 3D tool paths, 4th and 5th axis machining and set-up CNC machines to run complex geometry

· Understand cutting tool wear, varying cutting geometry and capable of selecting optimal tools for Aluminum / Tool steel machining processes

· Familiar with working with high precision tolerances to manufacture tooling components

· Perform machining calculations such as optimal speeds, feeds etc. for Aluminum and Tool Steel

· Check completed programs by running simulation and optimize tool paths for reduction in cycle time and increase production efficiency

· Maintain production fixtures & perform necessary modifications based on engineering changes

· Capable of designing fixtures & machine set-ups under guidance of Engineering team

· Capable of modifying CAD models and create shop drawings for machining

· Knowledge and able to determine sequence of operations during machining and optimize machining process during machine & tool build

· Familiar with CNC lathe programming and machining, optimizing tool paths during production.

· Communicate with the Maintenance, Production and Quality Supervisor during assignments.

· Work in a fast-paced environment.

Work Experience

· 5+ Years CNC Programming experience

· Designing using Solidworks and Mastercam software

· Familiar with G.D. and T

· Strong work ethic and ability to work with others

· Attention to detail and focuses on quality

· Ability to work with minimal supervision.
