This role is responsible for the full lifecycle of complex, high-precision component production, from programming and setup to operation, quality control, and independent preventative maintenance. The individual must function as a self-directed technical expert, ensuring optimal machine performance, process efficiency, and product quality by executing all tasks in strict adherence to engineering and operational standards.
- Program CNC machines by entering all relevant codes to specify the feed, speed, and cut of any toolpath (G-Code expertise is mandatory).
- Perform complete setups, including insert selection and tooling recommendations for CNC Lathes and Mills.
- Operate advanced CNC machinery (Okuma, DMG Mori, Mazak, Weingartner) and controls (Fagor, Siemens, Heidenhain, OS300) for the turning and manufacturing of rotary shoulder connections and other precision parts.
- Perform first-off inspections and execute program changes/modifications to optimize processes and achieve product quality requirements.
- Rework metal as needed to meet blueprint designs and exacting specifications.
- Perform a wide range of machining operations, including milling, turning, drilling, and grinding, using both manual and CNC machines.
- Exceptional ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, 3D drawings, orthographic projections, and technical specifications.
- Use precision measuring instruments (e.g., calipers, micrometers, gauges) to measure and verify all calculations, dimensions, and tolerances.
- Ensure traceability on all tubulars via documentation and review work orders for full compliance with customer specifications.
- Maintain a clean and organized workplace.
- Complete routine and daily preventative maintenance and inspections on machines and equipment to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
- Assist in the repair of equipment and machinery. Report any major equipment issues or malfunctions directly to the Operations Lead.
- Proactive engagement with LOGIC SOPs and safety protocols.
- Collaborate with the Operations Lead and Supervisor on project planning, resource allocation, and troubleshooting technical challenges.
- Experience: A minimum of 3-5 years of progressive experience as a CNC Machinist/Programmer, with a strong background in both manual and CNC operations.
- Programming Expertise: Proven programming capabilities, specifically with G-Code, and experience with modern industrial CNC controls (e.g., Fagor, Siemens, Heidenhain, OS300).
- Technical Skills: Extensive knowledge of various machining techniques, tools, materials, and an in-depth knowledge of metal machinery.
- Analysis: Excellent understanding of mechanics, mathematics, and basic chemistry for process optimization.
- Blueprint Reading: Exceptional ability to read and interpret 3D drawings and orthographic projection.
Autonomy: Proven ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and maintain meticulous attention to detail.
This role is in an industrial shop environment and requires the ability to perform physical tasks, including standing for long periods, and the ability to safely lift and manipulate heavy materials and components.
