CNC Laser Operator - Night Shift

Summary:

This job posting is for the full-time position of Laser Operator - Night Shift with ASAP Metal Fabricators, a sheet-metal manufacturing job shop in Yakima, WA.

This position is responsible for the daily setup and operation of CNC laser machines, in a custom sheet metal fabrication shop. Training will be provided as needed. We’re looking for someone excited to run our machines productively and work on different parts every day. This is a NIGHT SHIFT ONLY position.

Typical Responsibilities

- Set up and operate CNC Laser Machines to produce metal parts to print

- Float and assist other team members and work centers as needed

- Read and understand part drawings, select correct tooling and process for the job

- Load, install, and correctly set up special tooling required

- Perform assigned work expediently, while always meeting quality specifications

- Safely operate a forklift to transport raw materials and completed parts

- Use basic problem-solving to resolve daily manufacturing issues

- Know when to escalate an issue and seek assistance

- Document and report all material, drawing, equipment, and quality issues

- Participate in equipment preventative maintenance tasks at the operator level

- Keep work areas clean and organized, take care of all equipment and facilities

- Follow all company rules and policies

- Follow all safety rules and quality standards

- Communicate productively with the team to identify and overcome problems.

- Work productively with all team members, build and sustain respectful workplace relationships that we can all be proud of

Preferred Qualifications

- Strong metal fabrication background

- Experience operating CNC Cutting Equipment (Laser, Waterjet, Plasma, etc)

- Basic knowledge of laser cutting operations and setup

- Competent at basic dimensional measuring

- Able to quickly learn the use of precision measurement tools

- Demonstrated competency in basic mathematics and geometry

- Ability to read and understand blueprints and other shop drawings

- Ability to work with various types of metal forming constraints with guidance

- Ability to operate a forklift

- Flexible and responsive, with a strong teamwork orientation

- Good verbal and written communication skills

- Desire to learn new skills and improve my technical knowledge

- Commitment to quality and accuracy of work performed

- Demonstrated ability to effectively implement or respond to change

Preferred Experience

- 2-4 Years working in Manufacturing or a Fabrication environment

- Forklift Certification

The business operates on a 4/10s 40-hour workweek. Overtime may occasionally be required. Standard hours of operation are:

- Monday-Thursday, 4:00 pm - 2:30 am
