We are seeking a reliable and experienced Class B Truck Driver to join our team at East Coast Metals, Inc., a leading provider in roofing components, or distribution services. The ideal candidate will safely operate commercial vehicles to transport metal materials, scrap, roofing products, or related freight across local and regional routes. This role emphasizes safety, regulatory compliance, and efficient handling of specialized cargo, contributing to our logistics and customer service excellence.
- Safely operate Class B commercial vehicles, including flatbeds, dump trucks, roll-off trucks, and straight trucks (with refrigerated units if applicable for certain loads).
- Load and unload metal freight, scrap materials, roofing components, or supplies using appropriate equipment such as forklifts, cranes, or manual methods.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety and compliance with DOT regulations.
- Drive assigned routes efficiently while adhering to all traffic laws and safety standards.
- Ensure timely delivery and pickup of materials to customers, job sites, recycling facilities, or suppliers.
- Maintain accurate delivery, pickup, and load documentation, including electronic logs and bills of lading.
- Perform routine maintenance checks and report any vehicle issues promptly.
- Follow all safety protocols for transporting metal cargo, including securing loads properly to prevent shifting and handling any hazardous materials if endorsed.
- Valid Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with necessary endorsements (e.g., air brakes; tanker or hazmat a plus if applicable).
- Proven experience in truck driving, preferably with delivery or transport of metal products, scrap, construction materials, or freight loads.
- Familiarity with manual transmission vehicles is preferred.
- Experience operating specialized trucks such as flatbeds
- Knowledge of safe load securing techniques, especially for heavy or oversized metal materials.
- Ability to operate auxiliary equipment such as forklifts when required for loading/unloading.
- Strong understanding of DOT regulations, hours-of-service rules, and safety standards for commercial driving.
- Excellent driving skills with a clean driving record preferred.
- Physical ability to load/unload freight, secure tarps/straps, and perform routine vehicle inspections.
- Bi-Lingual (State Requires English Communication for Drivers)
