We’re looking for Circuit Breaker Technicians with advanced experience in high-voltage systems who are ready to take the next step in their careers. In this hands-on field role, you’ll perform testing, repairs, and diagnostics on various types of breakers, including SF6, vacuum-sealed, and oil-filled. You’ll be part of a growing team working on critical infrastructure across the U.S., engaging directly with clients and helping to ensure safety and performance in the power industry.
What You’ll Do:
- Perform routine maintenance, testing, and troubleshooting on high-voltage SF6, oil-filled, and vacuum-sealed breakers (13.8kV to 34.5kV)
- Conduct mechanical and electrical performance tests, including time travel analysis, power factor, insulation testing, SF6 gas testing, DC Hi-Pot, contact resistance, and VLF
- Disassemble, clean, repair, retrofit, and reassemble breakers
- Prepare accurate test reports and maintain detailed service records
- Read and interpret schematics and wiring diagrams
- Collaborate closely with customers to resolve technical issues and communicate findings
- Mentor and train junior technicians, providing support in field-based learning
- Maintain and enforce strict safety standards and ensure compliance with industry regulations
- Work independently and lead tasks within assigned field projects- 3–5+ years of experience in high-voltage substation, utility, or industrial maintenance
- Strong understanding of electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
- Skilled in diagnostic testing, troubleshooting, and interpreting test results
- Hands-on experience with substation equipment and test instruments
- Proficient in reading one-line, schematic, and wiring diagrams
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Willingness to travel 50% or more with flexibility for overtime, weekends, and nights during peak project windows
- Minimum of a high school diploma or GED required
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
- Must pass a background check and drug/alcohol screening
- Available for extended and irregular hours as needed
- Able to work outdoors in all weather, at heights (100+ ft), in confined spaces, and around high-voltage equipment and heavy machinery - Physically capable of lifting 50+ lbs. and enduring extended physical activity- Requires good vision, hearing, and English proficiency for safe, effective communication in noisy environments
- Completion of a trade school program, technical college, associate degree, or skilled trade certification is strongly preferred
- Prior experience performing advanced testing on high-voltage equipment
- Demonstrated leadership or mentorship experience in the field
