EcoPoint is an environmental intelligence company delivering advanced compliance, restoration, and well site management services across the oil and gas industry. Our proprietary GeoStorm platform integrates geospatial data collection, real-time monitoring, and regulatory reporting to help companies reduce risk, stay in compliance, and make confident, data-driven decisions. Our architecture uses a hub-and-spoke model: shared core ArcGIS Enterprise components within isolated AWS environments. Each client has segregated data, access, and identity controls without duplicating the full ArcGIS stack.
With active operations across Colorado, Utah, Wyoming, and beyond, EcoPoint is positioned to lead the next era of location-based environmental compliance and restoration.
EcoPoint is seeking a Chief Technology Officer (CTO) to lead, scale, and evolve our digital platforms—primarily GeoStorm, a custom Esri-based geospatial intelligence system. This role is both strategic and hands-on, requiring technical mastery, visionary leadership, and the ability to manage and grow a high-performance tech team during a period of rapid company expansion.
As CTO, you will be responsible for the end-to-end development lifecycle of GeoStorm’s web and mobile applications, ensuring platform scalability, performance, and alignment with company objectives and environmental service delivery.
- You design and execute a technology roadmap that doubles platform capacity over 18 months.
- EcoPoint’s tech stack becomes a core competitive differentiator in regulatory compliance and field restoration intelligence.
- You build a world-class tech team that scales with the company from $10M to $50M.
This is a hybrid position, with the specific terms of the hybrid work arrangement being negotiable. Due to the hands-on nature of this work, an average of 2-3 days per week may need to be spent in either the RIfle or Windsor office.
- Oversee the development and enhancement of the GeoStorm schema, regulatory workflows, and task management capabilities.
- Lead architecture decisions, backend infrastructure scaling, data schema integrity, and integration with IoT/remote sensing hardware.
- Lead secure deployment, lifecycle management, and performance tuning of ArcGIS services—including ImageServer, NotebookServer, and GeoEventServer—across multi-tenant infrastructure. This is a critical role for hardening our production platform, increasing automation, and building internal operational maturity.
- Define and execute the company’s 3–5 year technology roadmap, aligned with growth goals and compliance innovations.
- Implement and enforce SOPs for software releases, infrastructure security, incident response, and data resilience.
- Build high-availability systems that can serve clients across regulated industries at scale.
- Recruit, mentor, and manage a full-stack development team (internal and external).
- Define workflows between engineering, field ops, GIS, and compliance teams.
- Create a documentation-first culture that supports knowledge transfer and scale.
- Partner with CEO and COO to turn service-based needs into product-based features within GeoStorm.
- Translate regulatory trends and client requirements into usable platform enhancements.
- Guide UX/UI improvements to ensure field usability in low-connectivity environments.- 8+ years in software development, with at least 3 years in a senior leadership or CTO role.
- Extensive experience with Esri’s ArcGIS stack, geospatial database architecture, and mobile/web GIS deployment.
- Proven success in scaling and maintaining SaaS platforms or mission-critical enterprise software.
- Strong cloud experience (AWS, Azure, or GCP) with CI/CD pipelines, containerization, and security protocols.
- Track record of leading interdisciplinary teams and managing complex data integrations.
- Experience in the oil & gas, environmental compliance, or land restoration sectors.
- Background in deploying IoT, drone, or lidar-based systems.
- Familiarity with regulatory frameworks (COGCC, ECMC, DOGM) and environmental permitting workflows.
- Understanding of vegetation mapping, field data collection tools (e.g. Field Maps, Survey123), or drone imagery pipelines.
- ArcGIS automation (Python, REST API)
- HA/DR architectures for GeoEvent streams
- Multi-tenant Linux environment management
- Compliance implementation (SOC2, ISO 27001)- ArcGIS Online / ArcGIS Enterprise / Experience Builder
- React / Node / Python
- PostgreSQL / Feature Services
- AWS | Azure (migration underway)
- GitHub | Google Workspace | Esri REST APIs | Survey123 / Field Maps
- Drone + terrestrial capture integration (Lidar, image processing)- ArcGIS: Portal, Server, NotebookServer, GeoEventServer
- Cloud: AWS (EC2, S3, RDS/PostGIS, EFS, KMS, IAM, VPC, CloudWatch)
- IaC: Esri CloudFormation (primary), Terraform (auxiliary)
- Identity: SAML, OIDC (Azure AD, Okta)
- Monitoring: ArcGIS Logs, CloudWatch, Sentry
- Database: PostgreSQL/PostGIS
