An exciting opportunity exists for a Semi Truck Driver to join our Atchison, KS location. This positions will support plant production within the Transportation department.
Shift: 1st Pay: $25.37-$27.26
Position Overview
We are seeking a dependable and safety-focused CDL Driver to support daily operations at our steel foundry. This role is responsible for transporting raw materials, finished steel products, and equipment between plant facilities, customers, and suppliers. The ideal candidate has strong driving experience, a commitment to safety, and the ability to operate in an industrial manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities- Safely operate company trucks and trailers to transport steel products, scrap, raw materials, and related equipment.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections in accordance with DOT regulations and company policies.
- Secure loads properly using chains, straps, binders, or other required equipment.
- Coordinate with foundry operations, shipping, and receiving teams to ensure timely deliveries and pickups.
- Maintain accurate delivery logs, bills of lading, and inspection records.
- Follow all company safety procedures, DOT regulations, and transportation laws.
- Assist with loading and unloading materials when required using forklifts, overhead cranes, or other equipment.
- Report vehicle maintenance issues, safety hazards, or delays to the Transportation Supervisor.
- Maintain a clean and organized vehicle and work environment.
- Valid Class A or Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with a clean driving record.
- Prefer 2 years of commercial driving experience preferred.
- Ability to pass DOT physical, drug screening, and background check.
- Experience hauling heavy materials, steel products, or industrial loads preferred.
- Knowledge of load securement procedures and DOT compliance.
- Ability to work in an industrial environment including exposure to heat, dust, and noise.
- Experience in manufacturing, steel, or foundry operations.
- Forklift or material handling equipment experience.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Mechanical awareness for basic truck inspections and troubleshooting.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to climb in and out of trucks and trailers multiple times per shift.
- Ability to secure loads using chains and binders.
- Ability to work outdoors and in varying weather conditions.- Successful applicants will be eligible for a sign-on bonus of up to $1,000 once you commence work with us*.
