Cashier/Customer Service

Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and friendly Cashier/Customer Service representative to join our team in a dynamic grocery store environment. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills and a passion for providing outstanding customer service. This role involves handling transactions, assisting customers, and ensuring a pleasant shopping experience.

Duties

- Operate the Point of Sale (POS) system efficiently to process transactions accurately.

- Provide exceptional customer service by greeting customers, answering inquiries, and resolving issues.

- Demonstrate products and promote sales through effective upselling techniques.

- Maintain a clean and organized checkout area, ensuring all merchandising displays are well-stocked and appealing.

- Assist with stocking shelves and managing inventory levels to ensure product availability.

- Supervise junior staff when necessary, providing guidance and support in their roles.

- Utilize basic math skills for cash handling, including processing payments and giving change accurately.

- Exhibit strong phone etiquette when addressing customer calls or inquiries.

- Engage with customers in both English and another language if bilingual, enhancing the shopping experience for diverse clientele.

Qualifications

- Previous experience in cashiering or retail sales is preferred.

- Familiarity with retail math concepts to assist in inventory management and sales tracking.

- Strong communication skills to interact effectively with customers and team members.

- Ability to handle cash accurately and responsibly.

- Experience in merchandising and product demonstrations is a plus.

- Supervising experience is beneficial for those looking to take on leadership responsibilities.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $11.00 - $14.00 per hour
