Position Overview

The Cashier is responsible for fostering positive and professional customer relations daily. This role demands strong communication skills, a positive attitude, knowledge of material bought on site, and the ability to handle diverse customer interactions.

Duties and Responsibilities

- Process payments for retail and commercial customers

- Communicate with marketing staff when needed

- Perform a complete cash count weekly.

- Order cash requirements for the upcoming week.

- Daily cash reports

- Provide customer service.

- Communicate with service vendors

- Input new customer information into the buying program

- Update expired customer information on the buying program

- Compile and submit all retail purchases to “Leads on Line” for local authorities to review

- Update the “Do Not Buy” list provided by the local authorities to the buying program

- Monitor and order office supplies

- Printing daily reports

- Answering questions about material on site

- Answering phone calls

- Help open and lock up office

Requirements:

Job Requirements/Skills

- Proficient reading and writing skills

- Basic math skills

- Excellent Communication skills

- Strong conflict resolution skills in customer-facing situations

- Capable of working independently

Education/Experience

- High school diploma/ GED required

- Prior experience utilizing a retail buying system

- Microsoft Office

Physical Requirements

- Office Environment. Utilizing an office desk-sitting, reading, listening or speaking with the ability to move intermittently throughout the day

- Strong sensory skills, such as good eyesight, good hearing and dexterity

- Ability to operate office equipment, including computers, copiers, fax machines, and phones

- Exposure to physical operations in scrap recycling facilities, including walking/climbing in active industrial yards with uneven surfaces in inclement weather
