About the Role

C&D Scrap Metal Recyclers is seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Cash Office / Scale Attendant to support our daily operations. This full-time position is responsible for managing both the scale house and cash office functions. The ideal candidate will ensure accuracy in weighing inbound and outbound loads, oversee cash handling, assist with reporting, and collaborate across departments to maintain operational integrity. The Cash Office / Scale Attendant reports directly to the Front of House Supervisor and plays a vital role in providing accurate documentation, supporting shipping processes, and delivering excellent customer service in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

- Report directly to the Front of House Supervisor.

- Accurately weigh inbound and outbound loads and document all relevant data.

- Communicate with operations and buying staff to confirm load accuracy and pricing.

- Oversee shipping-related activities tied to scale and cash operations.

- Handle all cash transactions with precision and accountability.

- Generate and distribute accurate daily reports.

- Ensure compliance with DPS regulations for both retail and commercial transactions.

- Review mill tickets for accuracy and reconcile discrepancies as needed.

- Maintain a clean, organized, and professional cash office and scale house environment.

- Provide excellent customer service by answering questions, addressing concerns, and ensuring a smooth transaction experience.

Candidate Requirements

- Minimum of 2 years of cashier or cash handling experience.

- Strong customer service and communication skills.

- High attention to detail with the ability to manage high-volume transactions.

- Proficient with Microsoft Office programs and comfortable learning new software.

- Ability to reconcile cash and balance cash drawers accurately.

- Professional demeanor and ability to answer customer questions clearly and courteously.

- Experience working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment preferred.

Work Schedule & Travel Requirements

- Full-time position based in Houston, TX.

- Some travel may be required to support operations at satellite locations.

- Work every other Saturday, with occasional additional Saturdays to cover staffing vacancy.
