Blanchard Operator - 3rd Shift

This is a 3rd Shift position. Will train on 1st shift.

Job Summary

Purpose:

The purpose of this position is to produce quality parts according to dimensions specified on the Job Ticket in the desired quantities by following established procedures and processes.

Description of work:

Use information from the Job Ticket to grind ends of parts and OAL to specifications using Blanchard Grinding equipment while following all safety procedures and use of proper PPE

Essential duties include, but are not limited to the following:

- Set up and operate Blanchard rotary disk grinders to grind lengths according to work instructions

- Understand the difference between rough and finish operations and be able to identify which operation is being performed

- Read prints and work instructions or use Rockform procedures for roughing operations to determine required length dimension and tolerances as required

- Select correct fixture or fixtures as required per job

- Setup machine using appropriate tools to produce parts to required tolerances

- Use appropriate measuring equipment to inspect ground parts

- Ensure all gages are calibrated and set accurately

- Select appropriate jobs to run based on Rockform procedures

- Group jobs for efficiency while maintaining operation completion dates within procedure

- Clean all parts after completion

- Monitor and maintain the condition of fixtures

- Monitor and maintain inventory of grinding wheels

- Grind and maintain magnetic chuck as required

- Perform routine machine maintenance (preventive maintenace)

- Maintain work area cleanliness and organization

- Log completed jobs for job tracking purposes

- Work overtime as required to maintain production

- Ensure careful handling of materials and tools to avoid damage

Required Skills:

- Ability to read a micrometer, indicator, and caliper

- Ability to read and understand work instructions and prints

- Basic math skills

- Basic troubleshooting skills & mechanical aptitude

- Strong attention to detail

- Good oral and written communication skills

- Good organizational skills
