About This Job

About APR Energy

APR Energy provides rapidly deployable mobile power solutions to utility and data center operators, offering emergency, bridging, and permanent energy options. For more than 20 years, APR Energy has partnered with customers around the world to deliver fast, reliable power using mobile gas turbines. The company creates unique value by executing large-scale projects in weeks or months—far faster than the 2–5 years typically required to construct permanent infrastructure.

About the role

APR’s Operation & Maintenance Team is responsible for managing Power Plant Operations and maintaining the full life cycle of the company’s power-generation assets, including gas turbines, alternators, and Balance of Plant.

The Balance of Plant (BOP) Specialist plays a key role in Installation & Commissioning, Operations & Maintenance, and demobilization of all BOP equipment. Working closely with field engineers and technical crews, this position ensures the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of all mechanical systems supporting the fleet.

This role is responsible for supporting, maintaining, and optimizing all auxiliary systems associated with power plant operations. This role ensures reliable, efficient, and safe operation of plant equipment such as pumps, compressors, heat exchangers, cooling systems, fuel systems, water treatment units, and other supporting infrastructures critical to overall power plant performance.

This role collaborates with cross-functional teams, including Project Management, Engineering, Supply Chain, and GT maintenance teams, to develop and implement maintenance strategies aligned with operational and business objectives.

The ideal candidate will have a multidisciplinary background combining mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems knowledge, with a primary focus on mechanical systems. The position requires willingness to travel up to 50% to support field service operations, maintenance campaigns, installations, and outage execution.

- Maintain standardized documents and procedures for BOP operations, encompassing assembly, commissioning, and maintenance activities.

- Providing accurate reporting and record-keeping for all operational and maintenance tasks are essential aspects of BOP equipment.

- Lead field teams and engineers during new installations, maintenance, and outage campaigns to ensure alignment with overall project schedules and plant availability targets.

- Participate in design reviews and contribute to mechanical integration strategies for BOP systems.

- Collaborate with project and customer teams to develop start-up schedules and commissioning plans.

- Coordinate with the Team to ensure design requirements, tools, consumables, and parts are available for power-plant commissioning.

- Support site teams in resolving BOP system-level issues to maximize plant availability and reliability.

- Monitor and document abnormal operating conditions or out-of-tolerance parameters, initiating timely corrective actions and reporting.

- Deliver on-the-job technical training to plant operations and maintenance personnel.

- Assist in vendor selection, monitor vendor performance, and ensure effective service delivery during key projects.

- Able to commit to 60-75% of travel both locally and some foreign assignments.

- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, Electrical, or Power Engineering (or equivalent experience).

- 5+ years of experience in power generation, preferably in BOP or plant systems engineering roles.

- Strong knowledge of power plant auxiliary systems and plant operations.

- Experience with control systems, instrumentation, and data analysis tools related to BOP systems.

- Understanding plant safety procedures, reliability-centered maintenance, and outage planning.
