Backfill/Bullgang Support Miner

As our entry level support miner, you will be operating and maintaining underground construction and road maintenance equipment to keep our production going and our profitability up. Every day you will work at a mine on a remote island about 18 miles outside of Juneau, Alaska. You'll start every job with safety first by inspecting your workplace, your equipment, and then the preparation of ground, loading, and placement of backfill to be placed underground. To thrive in this role, you must be able to must be able to trouble shoot and maintain mechanical and hydraulic systems as well as be proficient in welding and fabricating. We're on a remote island, you must know how to work independently.

The Greens Creek Mine, located on Admiralty Island 18 miles south of Juneau, is an underground polymetallic mine operating since 1989, employing over 500 people. The mine is owned and operated by Hecla Mining Company, headquartered in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. Established in 1891, Hecla has a rich history as a distinguished and respected precious metals producer. - Training first. Every hire is provided MSHA training in the first 4 days on the job. We also provide department-level training on not just what to do, but safety, as well.

- Apply your mechanical aptitude in operating and maintaining trucks, jammers, the batch plant, and other equipment.

- Working on a remote island and living in a mining camp environment away from home if you are not Juneau based.

- You'll be below ground doing workplace inspections assigned each morning. Then, we'll rely on you to prioritize your work before you get started.

- You'll pass a background screening for ATF (Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms).

- Safety is important. Every piece of equipment and each work area must be inspected before we start the day for your safety and the safety of your team.
