Reporting to the Mobile Maintenance Superintendent, the Automotive Service Technician is responsible for maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing light-duty vehicles and equipment to ensure safe and reliable operation, while completing preventative maintenance, maintaining accurate service records, and adhering to all safety policies and procedures.
- Perform routine maintenance and inspections on light-duty vehicles and equipment in accordance with manufacturer specifications and company protocols.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and minor hydraulic issues on light-duty vehicles, including trucks, SUVs, vans, and site support vehicles.
- Conduct troubleshooting to identify root causes of equipment malfunctions and implement effective solutions.
- Utilize diagnostic tools and computerized systems to assess vehicle performance and faults where applicable.
- Conduct preventative maintenance to minimize breakdowns and extend equipment life.
- Complete work orders accurately and maintain detailed records of maintenance and repair activities.
- Track maintenance schedules and report any recurring issues or concerns to the Mobile Maintenance team.
- Work closely with Heavy Duty Technicians, maintenance personnel, and operations teams to coordinate repairs and servicing in line with site needs.
- Communicate vehicle availability and any maintenance-related impacts on operations. Safety and Compliance
- Adhere to all site safety policies, procedures, and environmental regulations.
- Promote a culture of safety by identifying hazards and participating in safety initiatives. Training and Development
- Participate in training and professional development to stay current with industry standards and evolving vehicle technologies.
- Assist in ordering and tracking replacement parts and consumables.
- Maintain organized inventory of commonly used light-duty components and supplies.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent, Operations, or management team.
- Red Seal Automotive Service Technician (or equivalent) preferred.
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical training in automotive or light-duty vehicle maintenance is an asset.
- Must possess a valid Class 5 Driver’s Licence
- Minimum of 2–3 years of experience as an Automotive Service Technician, preferably in an industrial, mining, or remote-site environment
- Familiarity with computerized diagnostic tools and vehicle software systems
- Strong commitment to safety and safe work practices
- Ability to work in physically demanding and variable outdoor conditions
This is a site-based camp job at Eskay Creek Mine site. This position involves working at a remote mine site on a 15 days on/13 days off rotation.
The Eskay Creek Revitalization Project is located within the Coast Mountains of Northwestern British Columbia and Tahltan Territory. Ground transportation will be provided from local communities to the Eskay Creek Site facilities. For those applicants located elsewhere in western Canada, flight transportation from major urban centers will be provided to the Terrace or Smithers airports, from which shuttles will provide transportation to the Eskay Creek Camp facilities. Travel time and expenses are subject to Skeena’s Travel Policy.
There will be exposure to extreme temperatures in all seasons including working outdoors in snow, mud, ice, and water conditions, walking to and from different locations on uneven ground, prolonged periods of standing and physically handling/lifting/moving heavy objects.
Compensation
The expected hourly range for this position is CAD $57, in line with the competitive job market for such roles carried out in British Columbia. Salary ranges are guidelines and any job offer received by a candidate will be determined on a number of factors such as relevant education, training, and/or experience.
