Liberty Lift Solutions is currently seeking an Automation Technician to join our growing team of specialists to perform routine diagnostic checks on an in-house automated rod pump control systems (Pump-Off Controllers and Integrated Variable Frequency Drives), isolate and repair problems, assist with inventory preparation, provide technical support, and perform field installations and repairs as needed. The Automation Technician will work closely with other technicians and production personnel. This is a field-based position.
- Work with basic hand tools on daily basis
- Work outside on a daily basis for long hours, in extreme weather elements (extreme hot and extreme cold)
- Responsible for the day-to-day support, preparation, testing, preventive maintenance, programming, calibration, and development of various automation equipment for field locations to include well sites, wellhead controls, and tank batteries.
- Installation, programming, maintenance and troubleshooting of facility and wellsite communication equipment and instruments, including frequent work with PLC, POC and VSD's.
- Coordinate maintenance activities with operations daily.
- Coordinate contractors when work needs arise.
- Manage ticketing process for each job completed
- Perform testing on all new and existing facility end devices for functionality, shutdowns, and alarm notifications.
- Lead automation failure analysis and recommendations going forward.
- Utilize all necessary safe work practices when performing automation work.
- Frequent communication with the operation team, Scada/IT group, measurement, and engineering.
- Complete all required field paperwork for job location and DOT
- Understand and follow all Liberty Lift Standard Operating Procedures. Lock-out/Tag-out procedure
- Maintain proper housekeeping of vehicles and job locations
- Assist in responsibility for the safety and welfare of the job site including fellow team members, customers and third party vendor
- All other duties as assigned
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- 3+ years of automation experience in the oil and gas industry preferred- PLC programming experience in oil and gas field operations preferred
- Experience with all industry standard POC's/VFD's, various communication protocols, load cells, load cables, and inclinometers preferred
- Experience troubleshooting Serial and Ethernet radio systems
- Experience working with wellhead plumbing
- Apprentice or Journeyman electrical certification preferred
