As an Associate Tax Accountant – International, you will prepare Federal and international income tax returns and estimates. Support international tax planning and compliance. Analyze general ledger accounts for permanent and temporary differences between book and taxable income. Interact with other departments to obtain information needed to prepare Federal and international income tax returns. Assist in completion of special projects.

Prepare Federal and international income/franchise tax returns and estimates that are complete and accurate.

•

Assist managers and senior staff with special projects.

•

Interact with personnel in other departments to obtain gather and analyze data relevant to international operations and tax obligations.

•

Assist in gathering information for and calculating book/tax differences for the year-end provision and various Federal tax return filings.

•

Prepare accrual-to-return reconciliation schedules.

•

Perform research on international tax laws and regulations and other Federal and international tax issues.

•

Develop an understanding of Valero’s business.

•

Assist in the preparation and filing of international tax returns including calculating E&P adjustments and preparation of Forms 5471, 8858 and 8865, and other necessary documentation to ensure compliance with U.S. and foreign tax regulations.

•

Assist with international tax initiatives (e.g., country-by-country reporting, foreign bank account reporting).

•

Monitor and assist in implementation of tax law changes.

This position is salaried exempt status, which means you are not eligible for overtime pay.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

•

Bachelor’s or higher- level degree - in Accounting required.

•

Able and willing to work on-site, in-person at the Valero San Antonio location, required.

Preferred Requirements:

•

CPA or CPA candidate preferred.

•

Public accounting experience or equivalent experience in industry preferred.

Position level and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
