DESCRIPTION:
Reporting to the Manager – Accounting, the Fixed Asset Accountant will be a key member of a dynamic Accounting & Finance team, and responsible for the recording of capital projects, joint venture transactions and related monthly reporting. The successful accountant would be responsible for tracking existing fixed assets, recording depreciation, as well as master maintenance for the project accounting module in Oracle, including creating, and maintaining projects and related task accounts of projects.
Responsibility Area #1 – Fixed Asset Accounting
•Create and monitor a system of controls, procedures, and forms for the recording of fixed assets.
•Recommend to management any updates to accounting policies related to fixed assets.
•Record fixed asset acquisitions and dispositions in the accounting system.
•Create projects in Oracle and maintain task account codes.
•Track the compilation of project costs into fixed asset accounts, and close out those accounts once the related projects have been completed.
•Reconcile the balance in the fixed asset subsidiary ledger to the summary-level account in the general ledger.
•Calculate depreciation for all fixed assets.
•Review and update the detailed schedule of fixed assets and accumulated depreciation.
•Calculate asset retirement obligations for those fixed assets to which AROs are applicable.
•Investigate the potential obsolescence of fixed assets.
•Conduct analyses related to fixed assets as requested by management.
•Monthly reporting of capital projects
•Prepare audit schedules relating to fixed assets and assist the auditors in their inquiries.
•Track company expenditures for fixed assets in comparison to the capital budget and management authorizations.
Responsibility Area #2 – Intercompany and Intracompany Accounting
•Ensure timely and accurate accounting of intercompany and intracompany transactions such as:
•services completed between affiliate companies
•Recovery of costs as contractually required from joint venture partners and customers
•Ensuring appropriate accounting treatment between entities such as intercompany and intracompany profit eliminations
Responsibility Area #3 – Process Improvements & Efficiencies
•Identify and implement opportunities to streamline fixed asset and project accounting processes.
•Continuously evaluate the effectiveness of current accounting procedures and recommend enhancements to improve accuracy, timeliness, and compliance.
•Collaborate with external teams to optimize Oracle project accounting module configurations and reporting capabilities.
•Develop and maintain documentation for improved workflows and system enhancements.
•Support change management initiatives related to accounting system upgrades or policy changes.
•Participate in cross-functional initiatives aimed at improving capital project tracking, reporting, and asset lifecycle management.
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:
•CPA designation is requirement for this position.
•Experience or knowledge in Microsoft Office 365 Apps. (Outlook, Excel, Word, Power Point, and Teams)
•Well-developed interpersonal, communication and organizational skills.
•Flexibility, initiative, resourcefulness, and the ability to work as an effective team member.
•Excellent written and verbal communication skills, the ability to prioritize conflicting demands, and the ability to present information to field operations and company management in a simple and concise manner
