The T&D Engineering Associate Project Manager is responsible for carrying out Capital Projects related to GRDA assets. These are generally Substation and/or Transmission Line projects and could be either upgrade related or new installations as required by customer/GRDA needs. The project manager will take instruction from the engineering team and manage all aspects of carrying out the project from inception to completion; developing schedules, procurement, on-site activities, contractors, documentation, etc. The position is critical to GRDA as these projects are directly related to customer needs and GRDA reliability requirements.
Essential job functions include, but are not limited to:
•Manages the project engineering, procurement, scheduling, associated plans/drawings, and stakeholder needs to ensure proper sequencing for project completion by required date.
•Assists with and verifies quality status of design/design reviews. Provide technical expertise including but not limited to design/constructability options.
•Prepares materials needed for meetings and events including quarterly reports, and other client focused material.
•Coordinates work of outside contractors or internal crews on T&D projects including coordinating schedules with system outages to ensure safety.
•Manages internal/external stakeholder communication.
•Ensures projects meet all necessary goals, requirements and deadlines while staying within budget restraints.
•Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Skills, Knowledge, Qualities:
•Working knowledge and understanding of electrical utility equipment.
•Proven ability to manage projects and initiatives, working in a collaborative environment.
•Functional competency with personal computers, tablets, cellular phones/apps; prefer experience with Excel, Word, and Project.
•Must be capable of methodical analysis of project execution.
•Strong commitment to safety/safety practices.
•Must be comfortable dealing with customers and contractors in a one-on-one atmosphere and have demonstrated good communications skills.
•Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, with emphasis on excel and PowerPoint.
•Strong written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal, and decision-making skills
•Well-organized, multitasker with time management skills
Education, Training, Experience:
•Bachelor's degree in business administration, project management, construction or closely related field, preferred.
•Minimum of 2 years’ experience in utility construction, related field or equivalent combination of education/experience.
Certificates, Registrations, Licenses:
•Valid Oklahoma driver’s license, or the ability to convert within 30 days for those with an out of state driver’s license that are an Oklahoma resident.
•Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM).
•Project Management Institute (PMP) certification preferred or obtained within two years of hire.
Physical/Mental Requirements & Working Conditions:
•Must be able to walk, climb stairs, and work from ladders and elevated platforms. Must not have a fear of heights, confined spaces, or working around high voltage equipment.
•Ability to lift, move, and carry weights of up to 50 lb. on an irregular basis.
•Must possess mental, visual, and auditory acuity for attention to visual and auditory detail. Manual dexterity is required for the operation of test equipment, tools, and computers.
•Work is performed outdoors in all types of weather and in an office environment.
•Emergency work may be performed outdoors and/or indoors in a high noise/high temperature environment with possible work in confined spaces.
•Emergency repair assistance work may be required during inclement weather and at any time in any season.
Other information:
•Office area is currently provided at the Engineering Technology Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Specific work sites and substation locations exist throughout the northeastern quarter of Oklahoma and/or other locations, as assigned.
