We are seeking a skilled Project Engineering Manager to lead multidisciplinary design, engineering, and execution efforts for complex power generation projects, including gas power generation for microgrids. This role will be responsible for managing all project phases—from conceptual design through construction, commissioning, and handover—ensuring technical excellence, regulatory compliance, and on-time, on-budget delivery.
This position is based in either
Dallas, TX or San Juan Capistrano, CA
, and the ideal candidate will be within commutable distance. Occasional travel (up to 15%) may be required.
What you get to do:
Project Planning & Execution
•Develop and manage comprehensive project plans, budgets, schedules, and resource allocation.
•Lead cross-functional engineering teams, consultants, suppliers, and OEMs to deliver high-quality project outcomes.
•Oversee and coordinate project feasibility studies, conceptual and FEED designs for power generation systems.
•Oversee execution of Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) phases across diverse energy projects.
•Supervise construction and commissioning activities and ensure compliance with QA/QC and safety protocols.
Engineering & Design Management
•Manage and review design deliverables across civil, mechanical, electrical, and control systems disciplines.
•Interpret and validate Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), and thermal system designs.
•Oversee mechanical packaging, piping layouts, and equipment integration (especially gas turbines, HRSGs, and energy storage).
•Conduct feasibility studies, thermal performance analyses, and water/heat balance calculations.
•Conduct feasibility studies, technical evaluations, and optimization of thermal and hybrid power systems.
Compliance & Risk Management
•Lead HAZOP/HAZID workshops, identify risks, and implement risk mitigation strategies.
•Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards including air permitting and emissions modeling.
Stakeholder Engagement & Reporting
•Serve as the primary technical point of contact for clients, contractors, and internal teams.
•Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, including OEMS, permitting authorities and regulatory bodies.
•Provide regular updates, technical documentation, and progress reports to leadership and clients.
What you bring to the role:
•Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, Chemical, Process, or Industrial Engineering (Master’s preferred).
•10+ years of total experience, including 5+ years in project engineering management for thermal power generation or energy infrastructure projects.
•Proven experience with gas power generation: simple cycle and or combined cycle power plants (CCPP), combined heat and power (CHP), fuel cells, carbon capture, and/or microgrids.
•Strong technical expertise in PFDs, P&IDs, mechanical/piping design, and system integration.
•Experience managing HAZOP/HAZID processes and environmental permitting.
•Familiarity with engineering design tools and project management software (e.g., MS Project).
•PE or EIT certification preferred.
•Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
