Position Summary
The Water Resources team is seeking two (2) entry level Associate EHS Consultants (Scientists). Employees at this level provide support in scientific areas of specialization with some supervision. Employees in these positions provide technical direction and oversight for functional areas in the natural or data sciences (e.g. water quality, meteorology, data analytics). These positions provide critical operational support for nuclear, fossil, and hydro power generation stations and ensure compliance with applicable environmental laws and regulations (e.g., Clean Water Act, NPDES, FERC, NRC).
One of the positions will primarily support meteorological data analysis and interpretation. For this position, a bachelor’s or advanced degree in meteorology, climate science, data science, or one of the natural sciences with coursework or background in meteorology or climate science is preferred.
The other position will primarily support surface water quality monitoring. For this position, a bachelor’s or advanced degree in limnology, environmental science, data science, or one of the natural sciences is preferred. Job duties and responsibilities for each position will be assigned based on workload and the successful candidate's education and experience.
Responsibilities May Include•Provide scientific/technical guidance in the identification, analysis and resolution of routine problems in the area of expertise.
•Contribute to the accomplishment of business goals and objectives through effective planning, organizing, estimating, scheduling and monitoring of work activities in collaboration with higher-level employees and peers.
•Conduct scientific and related studies in collaboration with higher-level staff; demonstrate skill in technical competencies and has ability to interpret technical information and instructions. Develop positive working relationships to effectively coordinate work activities. Apply effective oral and written communication skills. Maintain accurate records and files. Support the company's goals and represent the company positively and professionally.
•Lead or assist with water quality and biological field surveys, investigations, and assessments.
•Under supervision, prepare thorough and accurate technical reports and procedures, correspondence, documentation, models, and drawings associated with the resolution of routine technical problems.
•Environmental data review, analysis, and validation, including application of QA/QC principles.
•Instrument calibration and troubleshooting (surface water or meteorological).
•Air dispersion modeling.
•Surface water quality and hydraulic modeling.
•Equipment purchasing and maintenance.
•Commitment to safety and ability to work safely outdoors in a variety of weather conditions.
•Trailering and operating boats.
•Occasional travel with multiday site visits and station support.
Basic Qualifications
•Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Science, or other related field of study.
•In lieu of a Bachelor’s degree, four (4) years of directly related work experience.
Desired Qualifications
•1+ years of directly related work experience.
•Master’s degree or higher in environmental science, limnology, meteorology, climate science, data science, or other related natural science field of study.
•Coursework, knowledge and/or experience in two or more of the following areas:
+ Meteorology/climate science
+ Data science and analytics
+ Water sampling techniques
+ Water quality assessments
+ Biological assessments
+ Hydraulic modeling
+ Environmental rules and regulations
+ Electric power generation
•Understanding of project management concepts.
•Experience trailering and operating boats.

Working Conditions
•Onsite Mobility Classification – Work will be performed at a company facility.
•Travel Requirement (Meteorological Support): 0-15% (0-15% overnight)
•Travel Requirement (Limnological Support): 25-50% (10-30% overnight)
•Occasional to frequent work in a field environment with exposure to all types of weather
