Position Description
PRIMARY PURPOSE:
Kinder Morgan (KM) is seeking a Compliance Specialist for its fast-paced Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) department to provide regulatory support, reporting, improvement and implementation of KM’s Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) compliance systems.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
•Responsible for identifying regulatory matters, routine compliance reporting and trend analysis.
•Support personnel with updating and closing compliance system records.
•Routine report creation and distribution using Microsoft Excel and EHS compliance system data.
•Participate in internal working groups to improve EHS performance and report on EHSS trends.
•Support the identification and reporting on monthly regulatory updates of federal, state, and local requirements.
•Work closely with the information technology (IT) department and third party vendors on development, upgrades, and enhancements for EHS compliance applications.
•Support and further develop existing automated reporting systems such as SSRS and PowerBI.
•Review procedures and processes, implement system changes to improve efficiency and support stakeholder requests.
•Perform data entry into KM compliance systems.
•Provide training for new assigned personnel and compliance staff on the use and/or administration of compliance systems.
•Assist in the development and enhancement of compliance policies and procedures.
•Responsible for overall system maintenance to keep compliance records current and bring matters to closure.
•Communicate effectively with company employees, vendors, and contractors.
•Proactively plan, organize and oversee assigned work programs.
•Deal with a wide variety of people and personalities with tact, courtesy and professionalism across multiple business units, including, but not limited to: other employees, all levels of management, vendors and customers.
•Articulate and present ideas, proposals, and results to all levels of management.
•Maintain applicable files, including, but not limited to, responsibility for electronic and manual document management.

Education/Experience
Position Requirements
•BS or BA in Engineering, Physical or Environmental Science, Data Analytics, Computer Science or related field is preferred, but not required.
•Experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
•A minimum of 0-5 years’ experience in EHS or related field
•In addition to the degree preference, a minimum of 2 to 5 years direct and active work experience with EHS regulations and the implementation of IT systems is preferred.
Certifications, Licenses & Registrations
•Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and a driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurers (for travel).
•Travel is required and anticipated up to 10%.
Competencies, Skills & Abilities
•Intermediate to advanced proficiency with Microsoft applications and database software, specifically including, but not limited to: Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
•Strong communication skills – both written and verbal.
•Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills.
•Attention to detail a must, specifically with large amounts of data.
•Excellent organizational skills are required. Must be able to successfully perform multiple tasks with strict and sometimes simultaneous deadlines.
•Must be able to work within a team, take directions from supervisor(s), adhere to required work schedules, exhibit excellent follow-through, focus attention to details, and follow work rules.
•Ability to successfully perform the required and expected duties with minimal direct supervision.
•Must be able to work autonomously as situation dictates.

•Good interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to communicate system requirements verbally and in writing.

PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATIONS, COMPETENCIES, SKILLS, & ABILITIES (Above the minimum requirements; not required but advantageous in this position):
•Experience with implementation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of environmental management system software specific to tracking EHS compliance, including Sphera Cloud HSM, Maximo HSE, Litmos, and Kinder Morgan developed applications.
•Experience with PowerBI or Qlik analytic dashboard development a plus.
•Experience with environmental, health, and safety regulations, terminology and practical field knowledge.
•General understanding of the energy industry and familiar with industry terminology.
•Working knowledge of databases.
•Advanced proficiency level in MS Office applications including: Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint, SharePoint, MS Teams.
•Prior experience in writing and reviewing, and training users on written procedures.
•Professional certifications in an EHS discipline, or similar background, are considered a plus.
Working Conditions
•Majority of the work will be conducted from an office environment. Extended periods of sitting may be required for administrative activities.
•The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
•The nature of the work requires a significant amount of visual acuity for reading in both electronic and hard copy formats in order to review documents, proofread work, create documents, and perform tasks in KM’s EHS compliance systems.
•Must be willing to work overtime, some nights and weekends, and holidays as needed and required.
Job level commensurate with experience and skill sets.
The successful candidate will be required to clear a drug screen and a complete background check, after an offer has been extended and prior to being employed.
