The successful candidate will have an outstanding track record of success in workover rig experience in operating heavy equipment while ensuring communication skills are effective and complying with all safety polices to ensure the team is always working in safe conditions.
The Assistant Operations Manager (AOM) fills in for the Operations Manager when needed. When filling in for the Operations Manager, the AOM is responsible for the management of all field employees and equipment within the region. The Assistant Operations Manager leads by example, treating all employees with respect and exuding Fortis pride. When the not filling in for the Operations Manager, the Assistant Operations Manager will be assigned to a crew and work on location with that crew.
The following responsibilities are the primary tasks you will be working on. However, this list is not inclusive and may change over time.
- Train, coach, and supervise all field employees and hold them accountable for performing and attaining certain goals
- Ensure all accidents are reported and is responsible for full cooperation of employees involved for any necessary follow up managed by HSE
- Coordinate with HSE to ensure all policies and procedures are followed to maintain an incident free workplace
- Recognize problems and improvements needed and communicate to senior management
- Review daily tickets as required, ensuring accuracy and completeness
- Manage all equipment in the yard by inspecting for operational readiness and cleanliness
- Maintain inventory on location and in the dog houses
- Serve as back up crew members when necessary
- Communicate with the customer’s representative onsite to determine needs and services at the assigned location
- Directly responsible for the supervision of all rig-ups, rig-downs and subsequent operations on all locations for the duration of all work performed by the company
- Ensures the technical proficiency of field personnel is appropriate to meet customer and market requirements and regional field operations are conducted with a focus on training, safety and quality of service
- Ensure all safety equipment is in proper working order prior to the start of each shift
- Drive the preventative maintenance program. This includes promoting the culture, fluid analysis and continuous improvement efforts to mitigate routine equipment failures
- Assist the Operations Manager with selecting crews for scheduling purposes when necessary
- Ensure that company policies and procedures are followed by all employees and contractors
- Participate in weekly operation meetings with all Rig Supervisors/Operators
- Foster a success-oriented, accountable environment within the company
- Exercise “stop work obligation” when necessary
- Ensure all company owned equipment is kept clean and in working order
- Perform various other duties and activities as assigned
- Minimum of 5 years’ progressive management or supervisory experience
- Articulate communicator in both written and oral form
- Willingness to maintain the highest confidentiality of company information
- Good organizational skills, attention to detail
- Excellent computer skills and knowledge with MS Office
- Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management, employees and customers
- Must be forward-thinking and have high ethical standards, an appropriate professional image, and the ability to build trust
