MSALABS is an experienced global provider of geochemical laboratory services to the exploration and mining industries in Canada, the USA and around the world. We have a rapidly growing network of laboratories in key mining regions around the world to limit lead times and transit costs and we employ the latest hi-tech analysis equipment.
The Assistant Laboratory Manager supports the Laboratory Manager in overseeing daily laboratory operations, ensuring the efficient execution of testing processes and compliance with quality standards. This role involves managing personnel, assisting in technical troubleshooting, maintaining laboratory equipment, and ensuring safety protocols are followed.
- Assist in managing client jobs within the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
- Oversee daily laboratory workflows to ensure timely completion of tasks.
- Coordinate routine maintenance and timely repair of laboratory equipment.
- Support the inventory management process by tracking consumables and assisting in procurement.
- Enforce quality control procedures under the guidance of the Laboratory Manager.
- Ensure adherence to established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Collaborate with the team to maintain compliance with quality certifications and documentation.
- Provide hands-on support for complex testing and troubleshooting.
- Aid in training staff on new methods, SOPs, and updated protocols.
- Contribute to the development and validation of laboratory methods.
- Assist in monitoring staffing levels and coordinating shift schedules.
- Support staff performance reviews and recommend training needs.
- Promote a culture of safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
- Bachelor of Science, with a major in Chemistry or another discipline with suitable experience
- Induction on company policies and procedures.
- ISO17025 systems awareness, internal auditing and method validation where applicable
- 5-10 years of laboratory experience.
- Minimum 2 years as a supervisor/manager.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Well-versed in the operation and implementation of LIMS.
- Must be physically fit and able to perform the inherent requirements of the job
