ASSISTANT EQUIPMENT MANAGER

Position Description:

As the Assistant Equipment Manager, you will support the daily execution of warehouse and yard operations. You will play a key role in coordinating equipment logistics, supervising warehouse staff, enforcing safety standards, and ensuring efficient inventory and equipment management practices. This is a full-time, non-exempt position reporting to the Equipment Manager.

Essential Job Functions:

Serve as the primary point of contact in the absence of the Equipment Manager

Lead day-to-day operations within the warehouse and yard under the direction of the Equipment Manager

Supervise and mentor a team of warehouse associates, ensuring productivity and adherence to policies

Assist in implementing and maintaining inventory control systems and equipment tracking

Coordinate receiving, staging, and organizing of equipment to meet project timelines and job schedules

Conduct regular inspections of equipment and ensure maintenance schedules are followed

Support equipment repairs, preventative maintenance, and warranty tracking

Enforce cleanliness, safety, and organizational standards across all warehouse and yard areas

Help manage forklift operations and ensure compliance with traffic protocols and safety standards

Monitor daily workload and assign tasks to staff accordingly

Provide training to warehouse staff on equipment handling, safety procedures, and company protocols

Identify inefficiencies and recommend operational improvements to the Equipment Manager

Demonstrate professionalism; be courteous and friendly to customers and co-workers at all times

Follows company quality, safety and environmental guidelines as well as employee handbook policies.

Qualifications / Experience / Education:

High school diploma or equivalent required

Minimum 23 years of experience in a warehouse, logistics, or equipment handling environment

Experience leading a small team or shift preferred

Familiarity with mechanical and electrical equipment, including portable HVAC, dehumidifiers, fuel tanks, and accessories

Strong organizational and time management skills

Proficiency with inventory or warehouse management systems
