Assembly Lead Responsibilities:
•Assist in training of new and present employees in the processes and methods required to achieve the company's standards for quality, quantity, safety, and ISO9001.
•In the supervisor's absence, monitor behavior and partner with Human Resources to discipline employees assigned to the Assembly Department.
•Assist the department supervisor to ensuring adherence to ISO 9001 procedures and requirements, participate in ISO planning sessions.
•Assist the department supervisor to ensuring compliance with departmental housekeeping (5S) standards and all safety and work rules and regulations.
•Assemble machinery, fabricated metal products, electrical equipment, appliances, and more according to directions and working to specified tolerances. Assign, instruct, and check work of others in supervisor's absence or as the supervisor requests assistance.
•Follow work order procedures and routings; gather required tools and materials based on instructions, drawings, and specifications provided for the job.
•Read blueprints, schematics, or similar documentation, then build to those specifications working to specified tolerances.
•Uses various machines and hand tools to accomplish assigned tasks.
•Continually evaluate assembly processes and methods, recommend measures to improve production methods, equipment, performance, utilization of people, and quality of product.
•Act as a technical resource to address and resolve inquiries and problems; analyze and resolve work problems and assist workers in solving work problems.
•Inventory and maintain departmental supplies, tools, equipment, and order as necessary.
•Ensure the completion of all required production paperwork, records, documentation, such as timecards, quality records, etc.
•Assist the department supervisor in coordinating production startups, shutdowns and changeovers.
•In the supervisor's absence, determines which operator will run which job based upon the capabilities of the employee.
•Assist the supervisor to coordinate receiving and tracking activities relating to raw materials and purchased components required for production jobs.
•Watch due dates on production making awareness known on special operations.
•Is alert to production problems and initiates corrective action.
•Work cooperatively with other area leads/supervisors to troubleshoot issues.
•Communicate relevant or potential issues with the Production Manager.
•Attend and utilize all company-provided training to continually improve supervisor/manager skills and abilities and to ensure required consistency in how we are supervising/managing employees, processes, and procedures company-wide.
•Notifiy maintenance when faulty equipment is discovered.
•Notify QA when Nonconforming Material is found in assembly. Contributes to plan of resolving issues. Follows and promotes compliance with Control of Nonconforming Product Procedure.
•Follow procedures and promote compliance in relation to inspection of parts.
•Crosstrain in other areas of the plant as necessary to meet production demands.
•Adhere to all safety rules and guidelines.
•Perform other duties as assigned.
Assembly Lead Qualifications:
•Requires considerable skill, technique and knowledge of design and electrical or mechanical principles.
•Basic understanding of technical plans, drawings, models and blueprints.
•Excellent ability to read and listen to assignments given in a variety of forms.
•Basic understanding of mathematics.
•Ability to measure parts with calipers and micrometers.
•Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software as necessary to complete logs or records.
•Ability to read and understand blueprints and schematics.
•Detail-oriented and consistent.
•Works well as a productive member of a team.
•Ability to properly maintain and perform basic repairs on equipment.
•Basic ability in mathematics, reading, or writing.
