What You’ll Do:

Champion Safety. Take an active role in prioritizing safety throughout the operation for yourself and others at all times in accordance with MSHA and Vulcan standards. Comply with all Federal and State regulations and protocols for safety.

Move and Operate Drill. Move drill to designated location within the quarry and safely maneuver drill into position to drill blast holes. Operate unit to drill holes according to drill pattern.

Inspect and Maintain Drill. Maintain bits, hammers, and steel tubes. Change steels as needed. Inspect and maintain drill’s mechanisms, lubricant systems, and fluid levels. Make minor repairs by replacing gaskets, filters, and hoses. Coordinate with Operations Management to maintain drilling supplies inventory.

Champion Continuous Improvement. Maintain drill supply inventory, focus on continuous improvement. Direct mechanics to inspect and maintain drill mechanisms (boom, tracks, dust suppression system, etc.), lubricant system, and fluid levels.

Assist with Design. Assist in drill and blast pattern design layout.

Train. Trains and directs the activities of drillers and mechanics.

Skills You’ll Need:

Experience. Must have a minimum of five to eight years of experience.

Functional and Safety Knowledge. Must have acceptable performance, maintenance, and safety history. Must have knowledge of mine drilling standards, production techniques, and equipment. Must have knowledge of safety and environmental regulations (MSHA, ATF, OSHA).

Flexibility. Must be able to work overtime and extended hours depending on customer and company demands. Must be able to work outside in all types of weather conditions andtolerate being exposed to loud noises.

Interpersonal Skills. Must have exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
