We’re looking for a hardworking, safety-conscious individual to join our team as an Apprentice Lineman. In this hands-on role, you’ll work alongside experienced line personnel, learning the skills needed to construct, maintain, and repair power lines and substations. - Assist in assembling materials, tools, and equipment for transmission line and substation construction.
- Learn to climb poles and work as part of a crew under direct supervision.
- Read and interpret blueprints and construction specifications.
- Operate equipment used in line construction and maintenance.
- Support crews by maintaining a safe work environment and assisting in hazardous material handling.
- Master the fundamentals of electrical systems, safety procedures, and first aid.
Education – High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience – One year of related construction experience preferred, but a great attitude and willingness to learn are just as important! License – Must obtain a Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) within 9 months of employment. Physical Ability – Work outdoors in all weather conditions, lift 50+ pounds, climb poles, and work in challenging terrain. Availability – Must live within 30 minutes to the Tolar, TX office for emergency responses and be willing to work overtime or travel on short notice.This is not just a job; it’s a stepping stone to a rewarding career in the electric utility industry. Brazos Electric Cooperative provides transmission and distribution services for 16 Texas electric co-ops whose service territory extends across 68 counties from the Texas Panhandle to Houston. Those 16 co-ops are the member-owners of Brazos Electric, and our board of directors is comprised of one representative from each of our member-owners.
