What is the opportunity:
The IT Analyst will work within Energy Safety Canada’s policies and procedures to contribute to ensuring clients, both internal and external can access, acquire, organize, and store information successfully.
What will you do:
•Provide application support to business units in an effective and efficient manner with the use of proven troubleshooting methods and techniques. Record, track, document, and escalate end user issues using ITIL processes and incident management software. Monitor issues for trend and escalate as appropriate. Provide meaningful incident management dashboard for management review and corrective actions
•After consulting with users, design, develop and maintain reports using business intelligence (BI) tools such as SQL queries, store procedures, views, tables, Microsoft SSRS, IQA and PowerBI
•Monitor and enhance software performance on new and existing programs for the purposes of correcting errors, isolating areas for improvement, and general debugging
•Assist in the planning, design, development, of new applications and enhancements to existing applications. Maintain and modify enterprise software applications (iMIS), D2L/Brightspace, Web applications, and others.
•Document settings and configurations throughout the software development life cycle (SDLC) and ensure proper code management with the use of Microsoft DevOps, Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD)
•Provide orientation and training to end users for all modified and new application. Write detailed user guides covering application features and troubleshooting tips
•Assist in the preparation and documentation of software requirements and specifications for in house projects as well as industry driven initiatives
•Other duties as required
What you need to succeed:
•New or recent grad in Computer Science or Software Engineering with hands-on experience working with enterprise applications
•Formally trained in a major enterprise object-oriented programming language such as C# .NET.
•Working technical knowledge of web technologies: HTML, JavaScript, CSS, XML
•Hands on experience working in integrated development environments, including MS Visual Studio and DevOps
•Extensive experience with MS SQL databases
•Experience with different software development life cycle including agile and scrum
•Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws
•Hands-on software troubleshooting experience
•Flexible and adaptable to quickly learn new technologies
•Exemplary interpersonal skills
•Highly self-motivated and directed
•Keen attention to detail
•Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities
•Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
•Ability to work both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
