IronStrong Metal Fabrication is a new company that is growing at a very fast rate. We are a true job shop that will fabricate prototypes through large production runs. IronStrong is currently seeking an experienced Welder/Fabricator that is energetic, motivated, has a great work ethic, and can work in a fast-paced environment.
The Welder/Fabricator is responsible to layout, fit, fabricate, and TIG weld products under general supervision. The candidate is expected to have knowledge of hand and power tools, ability to read and understand shop drawings and be able to use basic measuring equipment. MIG welding and machining experience a plus.
- Follow and implement proper TIG welding procedures to ensure consistent, high-quality welds.
- Maintain precise dimensional tolerances as specified in engineering drawings and work orders.
- Consistently produce quality products that meet or exceed established standards and customer specifications.
- Accurately read, interpret, and follow blueprints, technical drawings, and welding symbols.
- Complete and maintain all required documentation to support traceability, quality control, and ISO:9001 compliance1.
- Inspect completed welds for defects and perform necessary rework or repairs to meet quality requirements.
- Clean, maintain, and perform basic troubleshooting on welding equipment and tools to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
- Adhere strictly to all safety protocols, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and promptly report any unsafe conditions, hazards, or malfunctioning equipment.
- Collaborate with team members and supervisors to resolve fabrication or assembly challenges and improve workflow.
- Participate in routine housekeeping to maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Support additional shop operations as assigned, including finish work, paint preparation, assembly, material handling, and equipment setup.
- Engage in ongoing skills development and training to stay current with industry best practices and new welding technologies.
- Ability to hold and manipulate welding torches and filler rods in precise positions for extended periods, which may require working in awkward or confined spaces
- Ability to operate forklifts and overhead cranes for material handling, as needed
- Ability to wear and work in required personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, steel-toed shoes, welding helmet, gloves, and hearing protection for extended periods
- Climbing and balancing on ladders, scaffolding, stairs, or structural steel, which may involve working at heights.
- Frequent pulling, pushing, lifting, and carrying of materials and equipment, with the ability to lift up to 75 pounds independently
- Good eyesight (with or without corrective lenses) to perform detailed welds and inspections
- Physical stamina and strength to maintain concentration and productivity during long shifts (8-10 hours), sometimes including overtime or weekend work
- Prolonged periods of standing and walking, often on hard surfaces, throughout the workday
- Regular bending, squatting, crouching, kneeling, and reaching—including reaching above shoulder height to handle materials or operate equipment
- Tolerance for exposure to shop noise, dust, heat, cold, and moving mechanical parts; occasional outdoor work may be required
- Use of hands and feet for operating a variety of power and hand tools, welding torches, and machinery, requiring good manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination
- High School Diploma or GED
- 1-5 years of practical experience in MIG and TIG welding
- Knowledge of welding symbols'
