Our Red Chris Mine, located in the heart of Northern British Columbia on the traditional territory of the Tahltan Nation. A short distance from Iskut and Dease Lake, Our fly-in, fly-out site offers access from various points across British Columbia and Alberta. Red Chris currently operates as an open-pit copper and gold mine with a promising future to transition to a high-value underground block cave operation. Purpose

Our Red Chris operation is now recruiting for the position of Advisor, Mine Equipment Training with a competitive base salary between CA $83,400 -$111,180 dependant on experience, skills, and qualifications. The offered base salary will be determined based on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills and competencies with consideration to internal equity. We are seeking an individual for a Fly In, Fly Out opportunity working on a two weeks in, two weeks out rotation.

The Advisor, Mine Equipment Training is pivotal in promoting a culture of safety, operational excellence, and continuous improvement within open-pit mining operations. Reporting to the Mine Training Coordinator, this role executes the strategic training vision by developing and implementing competency-based training programs tailored to the unique demands of open-pit environments. Collaborating with departments such as Mine Operations, Mobile Maintenance, Health and Safety, and Human Resources, the trainer ensures that training initiatives align with organizational goals, regulatory standards, and community engagement objectives.


Essential Duties

- Act as a visible safety leader by embedding safety principles into all training activities and promoting zero tolerance for unsafe practices.

- Collaborate with the Mine Training Coordinator to align training programs with operational and strategic goals, ensuring measurable outcomes.

- Conduct competency-based assessments to identify skill gaps and deliver tailored training programs for open-pit equipment operators.

- Develop and deliver training plans and materials.

- Track and report training program KPIs to evaluate effectiveness and recommend improvements, achieving compliance rates and training hours aligned with site goals.

- Maintain accurate training records and ensure compliance with regulatory standards, including provincial safety requirements.

- Foster collaboration across departments, building strong relationships to align training initiatives with operational objectives.

- Mentor and support operators, fostering a culture of continuous learning, inclusion, and professional growth.

- Support cross-departmental initiatives, including sustainability and safety projects, to integrate training programs with evolving operational needs.

- Identify and implement innovative training solutions to address challenges, ensuring alignment with industry best practices .


Training & Experience

- 3–5 years of experience in training or supervisory roles within open-pit mining operations.

- Expertise in operating or training on equipment, including drills, shovels, haul trucks, dozers, graders, and water trucks.

- Haul truck training experience (asset). High school diploma or equivalent (required).

- Mine Supervisor Certification or willingness to obtain within a specified timeframe (required).

- Strong communication, mentoring, and interpersonal skills to effectively develop and support personnel.

- Proven ability to deliver competency-based training aligned with organizational goals.

- Leadership skills with experience fostering inclusive and culturally competent learning environments.

- Knowledge of mining regulations, safety standards, and workplace agreements.

- Proficiency in SAP SuccessFactors (LMS), Power BI, Articulate 360, and MS Office tools, or willingness to learn.

- Familiarity with instructional design methodologies and blended learning strategies.

- Willingness to obtain Train-the-Trainer certification within a specified timeframe.

- Technical problem-solving skills to address training and operational challenges.

- Experience tracking and reporting KPIs for training program effectiveness and compliance.

- Willingness to spend time in the field for hands-on training and assessment.

- Valid Class 5 driver’s license.

The expected salary range for this role is CA$83,400-111,180 . This range is tied to the British Columbia market for jobs performed in British Columbia. The salary offer to the successful candidate will be based on job-related education, training, and/or experience.
