Summary

Progressive Rubber Industries is seeking a reliable, organized, and motivated Assistant to the General Manager to support daily operations in our steel manufacturing and fabrication business. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys keeping things running smoothly, handling administrative and coordination tasks, and learning the inner workings of an industrial operation.

The successful candidate will take ownership of many routine and time-consuming tasks currently handled by the General Manager, allowing leadership to focus on strategic and operational priorities. Over time, this role offers the opportunity to gain a deep understanding of our processes, people, and business nuances.


Responsibilities

· Manage and organize the General Manager’s calendar, meetings, and appointments

· Prepare, format, and distribute correspondence, reports, and internal documents

· Track action items from meetings and follow up to ensure completion

· Assist with filing, record keeping, and document control (digital and physical)


Operational Support

· Help coordinate day-to-day operational tasks across departments as directed

· Liaise with shop staff, office staff, and management to relay information clearly

· Assist with tracking production schedules, work orders, or project updates

· Support purchasing, inventory tracking, or vendor coordination as required


Business & Process Learning


· Learn Progressive Rubber Industries’ internal processes

· Gain familiarity with internal systems, workflows, and compliance requirements

· Observe and support problem-solving related to production, scheduling, or logistics

· Gradually take on increased responsibility as knowledge and confidence grow


General Support

· Handle miscellaneous tasks and special projects that arise in a fast-paced environment

· Provide reliable, professional support to help keep operations running efficiently


Qualifications & Skills


Required


· Strong organizational and time-management skills


· Clear written and verbal communication skills


· Comfortable working in a manufacturing/industrial environment

· Proficiency with basic office software (Microsoft Word, Projects, Excel, email)

· High level of discretion, reliability, and attention to detail


· Willingness to learn and take initiative


Preferred

· Previous experience in an administrative, operations, or coordinator role

· Exposure to manufacturing, construction, steel fabrication, or industrial settings

· Basic understanding of shop operations, drawings, or production workflows (an asset)

First 90 Days FocusDays 1–30: Orientation & Foundations

· Learn Progressive Rubber Industries’ operations, products, and services

· Become familiar with shop layout, safety practices, and key personnel

· Understand the General Manager’s daily, weekly, and monthly responsibilities

· Learn internal systems, filing methods, and communication processes

· Begin assisting with basic administrative and coordination tasks


Days 31–60: Increased Support & Ownership

· Take ownership of recurring administrative tasks and routine follow-ups

· Actively manage calendar scheduling, meeting coordination, and documentation

· Assist with tracking production priorities, schedules, or operational tasks

· Communicate confidently with shop and office staff on behalf of the GM as directed

· Identify small inefficiencies and suggest practical improvements


Days 61–90: Independence & Value Addition

· Operate independently on most routine GM support tasks

· Anticipate needs and proactively prepare information or materials


· Support special projects or operational initiatives

· Demonstrate a solid understanding of PRI’s workflows and business nuances

· Begin contributing ideas that improve efficiency, communication, or organization


Job Types: Full-time, Permanent


Pay: $52,000.00-$64,000.00 per year
