We are seeking an Manager- Accounts Receivable and Collections to oversee all aspects of AWWA's accounts receivable processes, ensuring effective billing, collections, and member/customer support.
This is not a 100% remote job. AWWA runs on a hybrid reporting schedule with at least 3 days in the Denver office and 2 days of remote reporting.
Essential Job Functions
•Manage the staff involved in invoicing, issuing credit/debit memos, establishing reserves, and overseeing the AR subledger in the ERP system.
•Oversee day-to-day operations of the A/R department, including the creation, implementation, and maintenance of policies, procedures, and controls. Streamline billing, collections, and cash application processes.
•Assist in monitoring, tracking, and enforcing department policies and goals, while identifying inefficiencies and proposing new procedures and concepts.
•Manage the monthly A/R close process, including reconciling the A/R sub-ledger to the general ledger (GL), preparing A/R month-end schedules, and ensuring revenue reporting and reconciliation to the GL.
•Review collection reports daily to assess the status of collections and outstanding balances, recommend write-offs, and work to reduce the collection cycle time (DSO).
•Actively monitor and work with internal departments to resolve outstanding A/R claims and chargebacks. Collaborate closely with department heads and sales teams to ensure adherence to collection guidelines and quick resolution of issues.
•Manage information requests during year-end audits and respond to internal audit requests.
•Compile data and conduct statistical and analytical studies on billing volume, dollars billed, payments received, outstanding bills, and fluctuations in cash and revenue. Prepare reports to support planning and evaluation of department objectives.
•Assist staff in resolving complicated transactions and issues. Interface with customer service, sales teams, and senior management to communicate and resolve issues.
•Provide leadership and guidance to direct reports, overseeing recruitment, hiring, retention, performance management, and professional development. Foster a positive work environment and a culture of learning.
Qualifications
Education, Certification or Formal Training:
•Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Management, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of training and experience indicating the ability to perform the job.
Work Experience:
•A minimum of 5 years of experience in accounts receivable, particularly in professional services.
•Strong understanding of general finance and accounting principles, accounting, spreadsheets, forecasting, and familiarity with Statement of Financial Accounting Standards (SFAS).
•Strong understanding of financial literacy, invoicing, credit authorization, and collections processes.
•Proven track record of providing exceptional customer service and effectively managing AR operations.
•Previous management or supervisory experience is required.
•Experience with Accounting/ERP systems such as NetSuite is essential, as is the ability to collaborate with IT to develop process improvements.
•Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams.

Compensation/Benefits
Pay is dependent upon qualifications; Pay range is targeted between $75,000 - $95,000 per year and is paired with a comprehensive benefits package that includes:
