Job Summary:

Water & Wastewater Services LLC is seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Accounting Assistant to support the financial operations of our growing utility service company. This role is responsible for performing a variety of accounting and administrative tasks related to accounts payable, accounts receivable, and customer billing. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills, a working knowledge of accounting principles, and the ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Management & Accounting:

•

Maintain general ledger accounts and record all financial transactions.

•

Process accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR), including vendor payments and customer billing.

•

Reconcile bank statements, credit card statements, and other financial accounts.

•

Prepare monthly and annual financial reports for management and board review.

•

Prepare monthly board packets and vouchers.

Billing & Revenue Management:

•

Generate and process water service invoices for residential, commercial, and industrial customers.

•

Help process and maintain accurate Meter Reading

•

Track and follow up on outstanding balances to ensure timely collections.

•

Maintain customer accounts and update billing information as needed.

Budgeting & Compliance:

•

Assist in preparing annual budgets and financial forecasts.

•

Ensure financial practices align with local, state, and federal regulations.

•

Maintain organized financial records for audits and regulatory reporting.

Office Administration & Support:

•

Answer customer inquiries related to billing and account balances.

•

Assist with procurement, purchase orders, and vendor communications.

•

Support administrative functions, such as filing, document preparation, and correspondence.

•

Office supply orders and organization of the copy room.

Qualifications

Education & Experience:

•

Associate or bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field preferred.

•

Minimum 2+ years of bookkeeping or accounting experience (preferably in a municipal, or utility office).

•

Experience with government accounting practices is a plus.

Skills & Abilities:

•

Proficiency in QuickBooks, Excel, Spectrum Viewpoint and accounting software.

•

Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excell, Work, Outlook)

•

Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks.

•

Knowledge of wastewater utility billing and regulatory compliance (preferred).

•

Excellent communication and customer service skills.

•

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Work Environment & Schedule:

· Office-based role with occasional field and customer interaction

· Standard business hours (8am-4:30pm) with occasional overtime or extended hours during reporting and or billing periods.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $25.00 - $32.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
