Accountant

We are looking to bring on an Accountant/Auditor that will inspect and review, but may also prepare and report, financial transactions, and budgetary controls for assigned funds and departments. In addition, they will be responsible to analyze past financial performance to predict future performance to help advise the company on its financial strategy.

# Supervisory Responsibilities:

- Will supervise an AP Clerk and an AR Clerk.

Duties/Responsibilities:

- Examine assigned financial records and statements for accuracy.

- Analyze financial data, making recommendations as appropriate to improve accuracy, efficiency, and to reduce costs.

- Inspect the budget and general ledger for assigned departments and accounts, ensuring that funds are available, and expenditures are assigned correctly.

- Reviews and/or assists with preparation of financial statements and records provided to federal, state, and internal auditors and similar personnel.

- As needed, assists with accounting duties for and corrections to listed financial records.

- As appropriate, identifies and recommends updates to accounting systems and procedures.

- Assists as needed with preparation of annual financial reports.

- Analyze business and financial data.

- Create financial models based on analysis to support organizational decision making.

- Develop financial plans and reports for organizational leaders.

- Analyze industry trends and makes recommendations based on those trends.

- Evaluate capital expenditures and depreciation.

- Develop automated reporting and forecasting tools for more efficient use of data.

- Perform other related duties as assigned.

- Analyze expenses and cost transactions; ensure that transactions are recorded accurately and assigned to the appropriate projects and departments.

- Provide detailed financial analysis and reports of expenses, includes breakdowns of project costs, forecasts of remaining expenses, and opportunities to increase efficiency.

Required Skills/Abilities:

- Expert knowledge of general financial accounting and cost accounting.

- Understanding of and ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles.

- Thorough understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

- Thorough understanding of methods of systems analysis and the principles, design, and procedural methods used in big data analysis.

- Excellent analytical skills.

- Thorough understanding of cost accounting principles and procedures.

- Experience with audit preparation.

- Experience with month end close.

- Experience with creating and analyzing budgets.

- Thorough understanding of project management.

- Proficient with accounting software.

- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.

Education and Experience:

- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline required.

- At least five years of Accountant experience required.

Physical Requirements:

- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
