Accountant I

The Accountant I is responsible for tasks related to general accounting functions, financial reporting, and operational accounting for business units. This role involves various daily, weekly, and monthly responsibilities that support Colonial Group, Inc.'s accounting processes.

Job Expectations & Duties

- Prepare monthly account reconciliations, including receivables, payables, accrued expenses, and other accounts, ensuring accuracy in daily and weekly processes.

- Compile various schedules for the monthly financial statement package.

- Analyze financial transactions and accounts to verify accuracy and completeness, creating journal entries for revenues, expenses, and tax provisions.

- Develop a working knowledge of all operational and accounting software/equipment systems relevant to financial reporting.

- Assist in meeting department deadlines in accordance with closing dates.

- Serve as a backup for preparing daily cash position schedules and submitting notices of borrowing and repayment activities.

Qualifications, Education & Experience:

- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field is required.

- Some relevant experience is preferred but not required.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel) is required, along with the ability to work with multiple PC software platforms.

- Strong verbal and written communication skills, problem-solving ability, and interpersonal skills are essential.

- Ability to multitask, work under pressure, meet deadlines, and thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
