Accountant I/II

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

- Responsible for capital AFE related tasks for the Products Pipelines Central Region

- Serve as backup support for month-end close related to operating expense categories for multiple Central Region assets

- Collaborate with project managers to verify that asset types are accurately documented, all necessary asset details are included, and the correct amounts are entered into the completion reports prior to final submission in the CARS system

- Review and analysis of all open AFE’s including working with project manager on status updates

- Preparation of ME journal entries related to capital accruals with supporting templates

- Month-end variance analysis between actual vs last forecast and budget

- Balance sheet account reconciliations with supporting schedules

- Collaborate cross functionally with Property Accounting and Project Management on capital projects and month-end deliverables

- Maintain tank lease schedules for specific facilities

- Run various asset management reports by entity for analysis

- Identify gaps in existing processes and recommend improvements to drive efficiency

- Complete understanding of Capitalization Policy and compliance with Kinder Morgan policies

Position Requirements

JOB REQUIREMENTS

- At least 3-5 years previous accounting or finance related work experience

- 2+ years of capital accounting experience preferred

- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications

- Demonstrates good report writing and effective presentation skills

- Demonstrates solid understanding of policies and procedures that apply to assignments.

- Ability to work cooperatively and effectively with others and/or with limited supervision

- Ability to pay close attention to details, and present good planning, organization and time management skills.

- Working experience in the Oil and Gas Industry preferred

- Knowledge of Lawson financial software

- Hybrid work schedule (Monday – Wednesday: office, Thursday – Friday: remote)

- Position may be filled at various levels depending on experience and job skills of the successful candidate
