Job Description:

Directs and performs a variety of tasks to assist in the work of a crew or crews engaged in the construction, maintenance and operation of water works facilities. This position is Monday through Friday, 8a-4:30p with an on call schedule.

- Assigns duties to department employees as directed. Installs and maintains water pipelines, services, valves, pumps, meters, tank connections and other water facilities.

- Trains and rates the work performance of crew members. Completes all company reports related to crew.

- Determines staff, equipment and materials needed for each job. Enforces safety regulations as required for the assigned work.

- Inspects meters, valves, hydrants, and pipes to detect defects such as leaks or malfunctioning meters; tightens pipe connections as needed.

- Investigates customer complaints. May record meter readings.

- May break-up pavement to dig excavations in preparation to remove or repair pipe Performs work as assigned by supervisor.

Experience/Education

- High school diploma or equivalent

- 3 years in water, construction, plumbing or building trades.

Work Environment

- Must be able to perform essential functions and meet the physical requirements for the position.

- A DOT physical is required.
