2nd Shift CNC operator

Steel 21 is seeking a full-time CNC Operator to add to our 2nd shift team! CNC operators are responsible for slabbing steel plates flat and parallel using our 21 Micro Milling process.

21 Micro Milling is the patented process that Steel 21 uses to mill steel plate surfaces flat, parallel, and within customer tolerances using vertical CNC mills and state-of-the-art magnet technology. Steel 21 takes great pride in our 21 Micro Milling process and also in the employees that help us achieve it.

2nd shift employees also receive a $2 an hour shift premium.

CNC Operator Responsibilities and Duties:

- Setup and operate CNC milling machines and face mills.

- Machining steel plates flat and parallel within customers requested tolerances.

- Use micrometers and indicators for measuring plate flatness and parallel.

- Clean and deburr parts.

- Load and unload the CNC mills with forklifts using telescoping booms.

- Keep work area clean and organized.

- Quality Control.

- Lift up to 50 lbs.

- Be able to stand for long periods of time.

Skills and Qualifications:

- General understanding of CNC machinery and tooling.

- Ability to read and use Micrometers and various machinist tools.

- Ability to read and understand blueprints.

- Basic Math skills.

- Ability to be trained.

- Grinding experience is a plus.

- Dependability.

- Strong work ethic

- Have and maintain a good attitude.

- Hold self to a high standard of quality, taking pride in your work.

- Willing to work overtime when needed and be flexible with shift hours.

Work environment: Machine shop/manufacturing

Shift Schedule: 2nd shift M-F 3:30pm – 2:00am

Pay: $16.00 - $19.00 per hour
