Pro Fab Rigging and Welding is looking for a Welding Shop Supervisor with commercial ironwork experience to join our team for commercial, structural construction work in the Greater-Austin area.
We are looking for a motivated, self starter for this new position. This person will be a be a great leader with excellent team management skills, highly skilled at structural welding, organized, and a great communicator.
We are looking for an individual that has 3 years of advanced supervisory welding experience. Pay starts at $32.00 per hour and negotiable with experience.
Job available to current Greater-Austin area residents only. No relocation.
The Shop Welder Lead oversees daily welding and fabrication activities within the shop, ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to quality standards. This role combines hands-on welding expertise with leadership responsibilities, including mentoring welders, coordinating workflow, and maintaining a safe and productive work environment.
- Lead, train, and mentor a team of shop welders and fabricators.
- Assign and prioritize work orders to meet production schedules and deadlines.
- Perform welding, cutting, and fabrication tasks as needed
- Inspect work for quality, accuracy, and adherence to specifications, drawings, and codes.
- Ensure proper setup, operation, and maintenance of welding equipment and tools.
- Enforce safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized shop environment.
- Collaborate with supervisors, engineers, and project managers and crew leads on job requirements.
- Troubleshoot fabrication challenges and recommend process improvements.
- Track materials, supplies, and equipment usage; assist in inventory control.
- Document work performed, maintain production logs, and support continuous improvement initiatives.
- High school diploma or equivalent (technical/vocational training preferred).
- 5+ years of welding/fabrication experience, with at least 3-5 years in a leadership or lead role.- Proficiency in multiple welding processes including GMAW
- Strong knowledge of welding codes, blueprints, schematics, and shop drawings.
- Ability to train and mentor welders of varying skill levels.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Commitment to workplace safety and quality standards.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in a physically demanding environment.
- AWS or equivalent welding certifications.
- Experience with CNC plasma, press brake, or other fabrication equipment.
- Experience with forklift and scissor-lifts
- Shop setting with exposure to heat, sparks, fumes, and noise.
- Requires use of PPE including welding helmet, gloves, safety glasses, and steel-toe boots.
- Valid Texas Driver’s License required
- Drug-testing and background check required for employment
7:00 AM-3:30 PM Monday-Friday with the opportunity for Overtime as specified
