Shop Supervisor - Steel Fabrication

You’ll run the daily shop operations, guide and motivate our crew, and work directly with walk-in customers—quoting and managing smaller jobs while keeping the big picture on track. This is the perfect role for someone who can balance leadership, craftsmanship, and customer care.

What You’ll Be Doing

Leadership & Supervision

- Plan and oversee daily shop operations.

- Train, mentor, and motivate your team to hit goals and build skills.

- Foster a positive, safety-first team environment.

Customer Engagement

- Greet and assist walk-in customers with professionalism.

- Quote and manage small jobs efficiently and accurately.

- Build strong client relationships that keep them coming back.

Production Oversight

- Review shop drawings for accuracy and feasibility.

- Manage workflow to meet deadlines and quality standards.

- Uphold strict quality control from setup through completion.

Safety, Communication & Coordination

- Conduct safety inspections and enforce regulations.

- Communicate clearly across departments to align priorities.

- Maintain and organize materials, inventory, and shop equipment.

Administration

- Manage timecards, attendance, and daily shop reporting.

What We're Looking For

Experience

- 5+ years in structural steel/aluminum/stainless fabrication - 3+ years in a supervisory role in a certified facility

Skills & Attributes

- Able to read and interpret technical drawings

- CWB or AWS Welding Supervisor certification (asset)

- Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills

- Hands-on, customer-focused, and personable

- Comfortable in a fast-paced, detail-driven environment

- Autocad

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $45.00-$55.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
