Position Description: Job Title: Structural Welder
Position Summary:
The Structural Welder is responsible for fabricating, assembling, and welding structural components according to blueprints, specifications, and safety standards. This role requires precision welding skills to ensure strong, durable welds that meet quality and code requirements for construction, manufacturing, and industrial projects.
Key Responsibilities:
Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and welding symbols.
Set up and operate welding equipment (SMAW, MIG, TIG, or flux-core) to join structural components.
Weld metal parts in flat, vertical, horizontal, and overhead positions.
Inspect welds to ensure they meet specifications and standards.
Fabricate, cut, or grind metal parts as required for assembly.
Perform quality checks and ensure all work meets safety and compliance requirements.
Repair or modify existing structures by removing and replacing welds.
Maintain tools, equipment, and work area in clean and safe condition.
Follow OSHA and company safety regulations at all times.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training preferred.
Proven experience as a structural welder in construction, manufacturing, or industrial settings.
Proficiency in various welding techniques (SMAW, MIG, TIG, flux-core).
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and welding symbols.
Knowledge of welding codes, standards, and safety procedures.
Physical strength and stamina to handle heavy materials and work in various environments.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
Working Conditions:
Work performed in fabrication shops, construction sites, or industrial environments.
May involve exposure to heat, sparks, fumes, and confined spaces.
Requires use of PPE including welding helmet, gloves, safety glasses, and protective clothing.
Physical demands include standing, bending, and lifting heavy objects.
