Position Overview:
Responsible for producing quality cosmetic welds in a training capacity. This position involves welding specific commercial grades of materials safely and in compliance with ISO quality standards.
Following the completion of your training, you will be required to rotate shifts in accordance with our CBA.
Key Responsibilities:
•Work in a safe manner consistent with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and company policies.
•Wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE) as per department and job function requirements.
•Operate welding equipment, including Stick, TIG, and MIG welders, in accordance with safety rules and standard operating procedures.
•Maintain full product traceability as per ISO and department standards.
•Successfully complete practical 7018 Stick Electrode Test (7018/Carbon Steel Plate) as per standard operating procedures (SOP).
•Demonstrate the ability to stick weld common alloys.
•Correctly restamp identifications onto castings as required (number, letters).
•Successfully complete KHR 45A and KHR 35CL Qualification Plates as required by TSSA for welding on specified base alloys.
•Demonstrate the ability to operate a MIG welder for welding chain link assemblies.
•Identify and follow weld procedures correctly.
•Safely set up relevant welding equipment.
•Safely operate hand tools, including electric or pneumatic tools.
•Grind and clean castings as required after welding operations.
•Maintain attendance and schedule adherence as per Kubota standards.
•Set up all hand-grinders correctly and demonstrate correct grinding practices.
•Utilize LN software specific to job function as required.
•Use dial calipers correctly to record defects on Travelers.
•Conduct LPI spot-checks on castings as per SOP.
•Demonstrate the ability to arc-gouge castings for quicker material removal as required.
•Perform additional tasks and responsibilities as required.
Qualifications:
•Course in SMAW, GTWA, and MIG welding, including Oxy-acetylene. CWB certification or weld Tickets are considered an asset.
•Heavy equipment operating, crane courses, confined spaces, and first-aid certificates will all be considered assets.
•Will consider applicants within a welding department within a manufacturing environment without courses listed above.
Physical Demands and Working Conditions:
•Exposure to high temperatures, molten metal, and noise (PPE required).
•Demonstrated knowledge of Stick, TIG and MIG welding
•Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite.
•Capability to pass TSSA pressure vessel welding test in SMAW in the flat position.
•Ability to interpret proper filler and flat weld profiles.
•Knowledge of safe material handling techniques and proficient in safe operation of material handling equipment.
•Demonstrated positive work record and excellent attendance.
•Ability to meet the physical and sensory demands of the job.
•Ability to be able to work rotating shifts on a 2-week basis days, afternoon and overnights.
•Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team.
