Coordination and production of parts and products as needed for production including, but not limited to all activities for estimating, designing, building, welding, and repairing components.
- Read blueprints and drawings and take or read measurements to plan layout and procedures
- Determine the appropriate welding equipment or method based on requirements
- Set up components for welding according to specifications (e.g. cut material with powered saws to match measurements)
- Operate angle grinders to prepare parts
- Align components using calipers, rulers etc. and clamp pieces
- Weld components using manual or semi-automatic welding equipment in various positions (vertical, horizontal or overhead)
- Repair machinery by welding pieces and filling gaps
- Test and inspect welded surfaces and structure to verify product conformance
- Analyzes needs (i.e. size requirements, materials etc.), render design if needed using CAD program.
- Accurately input data into a spreadsheet to develop estimate for time and materials. Communicate estimate information back to the department supervisor
- Consult with supervision or lead on prioritization and scheduling to ensure adequate timing and deadlines are met.
- Accurately enters job information into Epicor for every operation on every job.
- Checks quality issues and reports any issues to the Department Lead immediately.
- Establish an efficient work flow based on product and task.
- Efficiently uses fabrication materials and other supplies and notifies the correct person when supplies run low.
- Ensures fabrication areas are accessible and safe for employee and customer traffic by maintaining a clean work area at all times.
- Properly wears required Personal Protective Equipment.
- Works as a back-up machine operator when there are limited company welding needs.
- Knowledge of fabrication processing including sawing, milling and welding preferred.
- Previous welding and machine operating experience required. Normally acquired through one (1) year previous experience or equivalent education.
- Previous experience using designing programs such as Auto Cad/SolidWorks preferred.
- Must have good attention to detail to identify issues in review, design, and fabrication process.
- Must have intermediate math skills (add, subtract, multiply and divide to include fractions and decimals).
- Ability to work in a team or independently.
- Must have good data entry skills and accuracy.
- Ability to multi-task and manage multiple priorities.
